I am absolutely terrified I got my BFP yesterday (top test and not FMU) and took another test this morning (2nd test FMU) and today's test is so much lighter. I had a pregnancy of unknown location before and exactly this happened then. Definitely pregnant as had a pregnant digital yesterday. Anyone had this/can see what I'm talking about?

The control line looks darker on the top one too so it doesn't really mean anything.

Also, HCG doubles every two days and you've only tested a day apart so again, doesn't mean anything.

I do understand how you feel after a loss this year, but kindly, step away from the tests for a bit (for ever) and maybe book in an early scan?

I’ve read that sometimes FMU doesn’t ALWAYS give a stronger result, sometimes the second wee or even in the afternoon can give a good strong result? I know how nerve racking this might be so have everything crossed for you x

I know it's hard, but please try not to test too much as it won't change the potential outcome anyway. It will just worry you more. The hcg tests are not designed to for that. A line is a line, some women will never get more than a faint line even after being pregnant for 12 weeks.
There are only two possible scenarios: #1 the line will get darker, you will feel better probably, but it still won't give you an indicator of a viable pregnancy unfortunately.
#2 the line is fainter which will worry you even more, even though it most probably doesn't mean anything.

If you absolutely must test, I'd suggest a digital one. No guesswork there.

And here is a list about when you'll (statistically) get the best result, so if you really want to compare the two tests you'd need to test at the same time with the same brand.

Thanks everyone. I got a positive digital last night but that one this morning is much lighter so I'm freaking out :( x

@eastview can you maybe book an early reassurance scan? Even though that might be way too early, maybe they will see you and get your blood hcg tested in 48h intervalls?

eastview · 04/11/2021 10:28

I have a drs appointment at 11.30 I think they are going to book me in for a scan which is probably pointless I just want my bloods done!

Did another one (I know I've lost the plot) and bottom is most recent 3rd wee today and looks darker than the others? Maybe I'm one of these weird darker in the afternoon test people? I've been referred to the EPU due to my previous ectopic tho

3rd test is definitely darker from the picture @eastview I hope you get some clear answers soon!

Moonshine160 · 04/11/2021 13:08

That last one definitely looks darker and it’s good that you’ve been referred. Now I would try your best to step away from the tests because you’re just going to make yourself more and more anxious. As a PP has said they’re really not always an indicator of whether the pregnancy is or isn’t progressing well. Flowers
