Acutest - Coop own brand

Hi, just wanted to share my (disappointing) experience with this brand to hopefully warn others.
I picked up a pack of 2 acutests from the coop and did my first test 3 days ago. I got what looked like a faint positive but I was unsure if it was an evap line. I took it out the packaging to double check I wasn’t imagining a line as the plastic isn’t very clear. I took the other one the next morning with my first morning wee and exactly the same experience. I thought the chance of 2 evap lines was slim but decided to try another brand test.
Anyway, 2 days later, I am still testing negative on other brands so I believe these must have been evap lines. I’ve attached pics so you can see what it looked like just in case anyone is in a similar situation.

What is the sensitivity of those tests vs the others you tested with? And did the lines show up within time frame?

Dani7 · 29/10/2021 10:00

The accutest were 20mlU and the others are 25mlU … but it’s now nearly 72 hours since the first one so I would have expected a positive by now if it was ‘real’. Both ‘lines’ didn’t come up straight away but were there when I checked the test at 5 minutes. (Always check it’s working and then walk away). Totally gutted.

I know what you mean. On the other side, what is the time frame to look at the results for these tests? Usually 5 minutes is already a bit late and possible for evap lines to appear unfortunately.

Dani7 · 29/10/2021 15:15

It says up to 5 minutes so thought it was ok. I searched on here for others experiences so thought I would share mine in case anyone else ends up in a similar situation 😊 Personally, I will be avoiding these ones in future.

I had the exact same thing with the Co op test, evaporation line on two tests and used one other time and I couldn't see hardly a thing due the the glass/plastic being so scratched up. Definitely steer clear of these! Only tests I trust now are the First Response early reading:)

@Dani7 when is your period due could possibly be a chemical pregnancy. Can go from a positive to a nagitive within a day or 2

Dani7 · 29/10/2021 16:18

It was due 4 days ago. Sore boobs and cramps for over a week but think it may be on its way now…Who knows what’s going on?! Not heard of chemical pregnancy, will google out of interest. Thanks

@Dani7
Sounds so like it to me. Yea read up on it I never knew about it until it happened to me.

Dani7 · 30/10/2021 08:53

Oh and look, phantom line is back again 🙈
Currently 5 days late, sore boobs still. I’m kind of assuming this is another evap line as it should be stronger by now. Who knows what’s going on?!

With this I’d be getting a frer, fingers crossed for you!

RacketeerRalph · 30/10/2021 12:57

Yeah sounds either like very early days or a chemical pregnancy.

Charl881 · 07/11/2021 13:10

@Dani7 did you take a FRER? I’ve just bought some acutests but now regretting it having seen all the reviews!

Dani7 · 07/11/2021 18:59

No, my period started at 6 days late. I’m sure your tests will be fine - but just be wary if there’s a fake line that it could be an evap line x
