Short luteal phase, laparoscopy and wedding!

Hello all,

First off, want to say a huge thank you to people who post so diligently and helpfully to this forum. If it wasn't for this forum, I'd be clueless!

Me and my partner have been ttc for two years - I am 32, he is 33. He had sperm analysis, I had blood tests. His men all ok, my prog low at 15. I had a laparoscopy to check if fallopian tubes were blocked, and they're not. Surgeon cleared a tiny bit of endometriosis, but said it wouldn't have been impacting conception. He said there was a corpus luteum on an ovary which shows I had ovulated. My app suggested I ovulate a week before the surgeon saw the CL. I had no idea a short luteal phase is a potential problem until this forum. GP and surgeon had started to say I'll just need ivf. I'm not sure how long the CL was there for when the surgeon saw it, but I reckon my LP is about 9 days. SO reassuring to see lots of other women in this position- THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

Me and my partner were going at it more at the start of the cycle and up to / including the window, and then tiring out, so the next month we just did every other day throughout. Had a late period so did a test. Got a faint positive (first ever) and then the next day, AF arrived, with a world of cramping pain.

Been reading about cyclogest so going to ask for that from gp. Bit tricky to get a gp appt at the moment, cant get one for another couple weeks and then it's just a call at some point in the afternoon, but my work doesnt allow me to dip out for a call so hopefully it'll be after 5 when I finish...

Another slight spanner is our wedding next summer. We were due to have wedding in spring 2020, which got cancelled obvs, and then summer 2021 (but partner's overseas close family couldn't come), so now it's summer 2022 and deposits are paid, but I now know I definitely won't have a baby before wedding. Would be interested to hear from pregnant brides? Some of my friends think it's best to leave it till after wedding, but that seems risky given our situation. However, after three years of waiting for wedding, I do want to be able to have fun!

Looking forward to hearing from you wise women. Thanks x

Vitamin b6 is meant to lengthen LP, might be worth looking at.

If it was me I'd think about what I'd want more, to be able to drink at my wedding or a baby potentially sooner? Yes you still have plenty of time to have a baby, but would you regret not trying for all that time before the wedding? I think I would but then also you have waited all that time for your wedding!

Ah bless you. We had to postpone our wedding by a Yr and I held off having implant taken out etc until just before as really didn't want to be pregnant before hand (I like a drink and a dance) anyway, I really regret waiting now because who knew you didn't just have to have unprotected sex once to get pregnant 😂 (I jest but didn't think I'd be on month 3 now) I don't really have advice but just wanted to tell you my story and in all honesty had I been pregnant before the wedding then I still think our day would have been as amazing and special as it was. Xx

Hi, after 3 recurrent miscarriages I found out that high strengths Vitamin C supplement can improve your progesterone and therefore lengthen your LP. Mine was on the short side and within 2 or 3 months of taken the Vit C supplement I had a normal LP.

Agnus castus lengthened my luteal phase- does take a few months, worth a read about it. . Also Vit B complex.
I would keep trying now and not think of wedding.

Thanks everyone :) I found a thread of pregnant brides and there seems to be a sweet spot of energy, glow and fun which seems lovely. Will avoid water-breaking-on-day pregnancy, but won't totally avoid it. Although, might not have much control given it's been two years anyway! 😅

Thanks also for the vitamin tips. I actually only very recently started upping vit c. I'm allergic ish to oranges, so have always avoided them, but have been chugging OJ like there's no tomorrow this month. Maybe the effects will come in a couple months then! Thanks again :)

I am also allergic to oranges/citrus in fruit or juice form that's why I take Vit C as a Supplement. Thankfully I am fine with that. Best of luck.

Haha I know right! Didn't realise the stars need to align to the fifth constellation for the 2 minute window you get each month! 😂 That's lovely to hear though from a fellow drink and dance liker! Thanks x
