Double LH spike - how common?

Hi there

This is our second month TTC, so I'm fairly new to LH surges and BBT.

I usually have approx 35 day cycle. Last month, for whatever reason, I started on/off bleeding on day 25, it turned into a normal period after 7 days and was 14 days bleeding total (7 strange on/off, 7 normal).

I started afresh once the bleeding stopped. I'm using OPK (Clearblue) as well as BBT (Ovucore)

I got a 'Peak Fertility' smiley via Clear Blue test on CD11. Temp dipped and then began to climb. All looked normal. Then my temp dipped again. I checked OPK test and got a negative. When it dipped again (today), I re-tested and got LH surge on both Clearblue and - just to check! - a Boots OPK test.

So, it looks like I might be having a double LH spike. Which implies I didn't ovulate at the first spike. I'll have to wait and see if I get a temp rise now to indicate successful ovulation. So it's a waiting game really. But I wondered if anyone else gets this regularly?

I am quite physically active. I've had a regular cycle for years, but exercise has stopped my periods in the past, so I've cut out intense exercise (still doing easier stuff) from the start of last month. I do wonder if reducing exercise intensity could have just confused hormones.

Double LH spike - how common?

With Lh I had a few cycles where it went high and then dipped and I ovulated a few days later on another high. I read it’s the body struggling to ovulate so it gears up again a few days later

@Hulahoopa yep, that's what I think it is too. Intrigued to know how common (or otherwise!) this is - and I guess time will tell if this is a one off, my normal cycle, or something exercise induced that will cease to happen the longer I've been on "low exercise" (which for me is really mentally and socially hard as all of my friends are people I know via sport... but I suppose it's good 'practice' for hopeful future). I do wish I'd tracked BBT before TTC!
