Anyone else TTC after Christmas?

Forgive my excitement, but DP has agreed to start TTC#2 after Christmas Grin just wondering if anyone else has the same plan? I'm going to come off the pill this month to give my body some time to adjust and hopefully get back to a normal-ish cycle before properly TTC.

Is there anything I can do to prepare my body? DC1 was a (very happy) surprise so I've never TTC before Smile

I’m using the Flo app & it’s pretty good! I think it’s £5 a month.

Feeling so broody this month so I’m starting to think we might just go for it earlier than planned but we have so much on in the next couple of months. Tricky!

Bringonbaby3 · 13/10/2021 20:44

I’m using Ovia and glow (the free ones). My ovulation days are 3 days different on each app though so a bit confusing.

My husband is excited! He feels a bit hard done by that we never got to “try” with our first two as they came along before we were expecting. Think he’s planning some date nights etc for Jan/Feb.

I have actually told my close friends that I’m planning for baby no 3 next year! I know it might not happen as quick this time but I don’t think I would mind them knowing that I was trying even if nothing was coming of it.

lustforlife · 13/10/2021 22:20

@AprilMayAnne me too, i like to plan every inch of my life and future, DP doesn't even like making plans for next week thanks, will have a look at Natura Cycles

@ExcitedtoTry I'm so tempted to as well, although I don't have a clue what's going to happen with my cycles!

@Bringonbaby3 thanks I'll have a look at those apps - bonus that they're free! that's nice that you've told some friends, I've told one of my 'mum friends' as she was planning a weekend-long hen do for next May. Don't think I'll tell any family as I'll probably get pestered!

Hello! Me too. We will be trying for our 3rd after my period in December. Well, hopefully! I came off the pill a couple of weeks ago so yet to have a period. I've started tracking with OPKs anyway. Good luck everyone!

lustforlife · 14/10/2021 14:32

@RadioPenguin hi! I came off the pill a couple of weeks ago too so we are in the same position. Looking forward to December (assuming my cycle is normal by then!)

What about exercise? I have read that those who exercise more are more likely to fall pregnant quicker? How much are you all doing. I try and do:

1x 5k a week
1 yoga session a week
1 x 20 min workout.

Is this enough? Too much? How much are you all doing?

AprilMayAnne · 15/10/2021 08:47

@bringonbaby3 that's almost exactly what I aim for too! No idea whether its too much or little but it 'feels' about right. I've been re-doing the couch to 5k as I've never been a natural runner and find the programme an amazing help. That said, I've just had about 2 weeks off any exercise after I hurt my toe falling over at a wedding (classic Blush), so need to get back in to it! It's definitely been a fortnight of feet up and Cake

lustforlife · 15/10/2021 11:32

@Bringonbaby3 I have no idea how much we should be doing tbh but that sounds good! I have two large dogs who I walk for around 45 mins a day. Then I just do some light weight workouts at home about 2x a week (or whenever I remember Grin) maybe I should try yoga!

Hi 👋 I would like to join this thread please! Nice to have some fellow people who are currently waiting to TTC.

My husband and I are hoping to start trying for our second next year, we have a DS who will be 3 at the end of March. I am just a bit worried about when to start trying as I’m currently considering changing jobs and we have a holiday booked for next August, but I really don’t want to hold off TTC when we feel the time is right for our families!

I would also like to get back into running and starting yoga!

Hope you’re all having a nice weekend Smile

Hi, welcome @OCM19 sounds like a busy year!

Starting using my OPKs this week. I've been off the pill two weeks tomorrow and was naively hoping to ovulate tomorrow Blush but getting very faint lines on the OPK so I guess not. Im glad I came off it now instead of waiting until December. I'm so impatient! How are you all getting on?

Me too! I came off the pill 2-3 weeks ago now and no positive on the OPKs. A little disappointed but I suppose it's nothing to worry about at the moment! I was hoping to ovulate around now too though
AprilMayAnne · 19/10/2021 21:25

I've just started my second cycle off the pill - it's my first time off hormones in the better part of 15 years, mind, so my body is out of practice. It took me 5 weeks to ovulate and 7 to get my period. I've been so anxious about it!! I was always hovering over my bbt chart and OPKs. But feeling very relieved to be out the other side of my first cycle. Just hoping that they even out now, in the run up to Christmas. Have others tended to get regular quite quickly? Got my fingers crossed, and for you guys too :)

lustforlife · 24/10/2021 09:09

@RadioPenguin any signs yet? I ran out of OPKs a few days ago but starting to get EWCM so hopefully ovulation is on the way!

@AprilMayAnne ooh interesting, I suppose it's not too long in the grand scheme of things! Hopefully they become more regular for you x

Can I join please? We will be TTC from March. I had 3 miscarriages before I had my daughter, so I am worried but also excited. I have started taking, prenatals, q10 and high strengths Vit C to improve my progesterone and to lengthen LP. Partner has also started taking Vitamins. Also tracking my cycle but somehow the OPKs stressed me this months, never got a positive but I did Ovulate I think.

lustforlife · 25/10/2021 20:41

@Sunshine085 of course! how old is your daughter? Smile I had the same issue with OPKs this month. Although it's my first cycle off the pill so 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
Sunshine085 · 25/10/2021 21:13

Thank you my daughter is 2. It took a good few months for my cycle to be regular after coming of the pill. Dont have that issue now as I didnt go back on it after giving birth. I think the more I try to watch out for ovulation signs the more my body plays tricks on me. Maybe I need to relax a bit but I feel my clock is ticking and I have a feeling that it will be a rollercoaster ride again.

AprilMayAnne · 07/11/2021 21:08

Hello! Just thought I'd check in and see how everyone is doing? I feel like time is passing so slowly, I just want it to be the new year already!! I'm keen to relax and enjoy myself in the meantime (healthy eating has definitely been put on pause!), but the longings are strong. DH understands but also worries I'm getting my hopes up early when it could be a long process. And he's not wrong! My second cycle off HBC is looking to either be another long one or anovulatory, I'm CD23 with no sign of ovulation yet. I think temping/OPKing is helpful overall to learn my cycle, but it also means its always on my mind. Any tips on distracting myself while we TTW? Daffodil

lustforlife · 08/11/2021 17:37

@AprilMayAnne hi! I'm not too bad, hope you're doing okay. Well I actually found out I'm pregnant a few days ago! I only came of the pill around a month ago so I'm shocked to say the least. So it looks like I will have two July-born DC if everything goes okay with this pregnancy! 🙈 I will still lurk on this thread if that's ok as I want to see how you all get on Smile has anyone caved yet and already started TTC? Grin

OP posts:
Bringonbaby3 · 08/11/2021 19:30

@lustforlife massive congratulations!! Do you know how far along you are? How are you feeling about it?That’s very exciting.

We haven’t caved yet but it is tempting. I’m now in the second half of my cycle and no unprotected sex this month so survived another month! 1 more full cycle to go for me and then we can start trying.

@AprilMayAnne I feel exactly the same about time going slowly, I kind of just want to skip past November. I had the opposite problem after coming off my contraception! I had a period immediately and then another 2 weeks later! Really heavy too. Think my cycles have normalised again now though thankfully.

lustforlife · 08/11/2021 19:48

@Bringonbaby3 thanks so much! Well I didn't have a proper period after coming off the pill but I'm 99% sure I know when I ovulated, which would put me at 4+1. So I'm MEGA early and not letting myself get excited yet. I had positive tests since 7dpo so it's going to feel like an age until my 12 week scan!

Christmas will be here before you know it 🤞

Hi all I'd love to join this chat if that's ok I'm 37 and have a 9 month old and we are hoping to try for a second in Jan. It happened very quickly for our first so hoping for the same but trying to not be too unrealistic! Have only had 1 period since the baby though (def not pregnant now!!) so hoping things settle down quickly so I can track and plan abit. Will start on the vitamins now though and stick to my exercise regime.
I'm really good at exercise but food is my nemesis!! Really need to lose a stone tbh. I thibk knowing it cam make all the difference may spur me on!
Nice to be in touch with you all and all the best on each of your journeys!!

MrsSamRowley · 09/11/2021 13:19

My husband is really keen to aim for an Autumn baby this time round so we were originally going to wait until after the New Year to TTC but I've been tracking my periods and if we TTC in December we'd have a due date around 7th September...given my daughter was 10 days early is that too risky to be an end of August baby??
