Short luteal phase

Hoping for some suggestions please.

Before DS, I used to always ovulate around day 14 and have my period about 12-14 days later.

DS is now almost 2 and we've decided to try for another. However, I'm now ovulating on day 18 and my luteal phase is only 8 or 9 days.

I'm thinking it may be a lack of sleep and the fact I'm still nursing DS 3 or 4 times in a 24 hour period.

Does anyone have any tips for helping me to ovulate earlier or to lengthen my luteal phase?

TIA!

Hey, my cycle is similar, whilst not still bf DC 1, I still am producing some milk 6 mo after stopping.
This cycle I've been taking vit c and d (as well as folic acid, obvs) as separate supplements, as I heard they were good for LP / regular cycle in general. Hopefully someone else replies, but I will let you know how I get on 😊

Ooh thanks for this, that's good to know. I do have a pre natal I try to take but I'm not the best at remembering it, so will have to make more of an effort.

I ovulated on day 17 of 28 and got pregnant quickly- once whilst bf my older baby too.

@greenmarmalade Really good to hear this!

You could look into Agnus Castus (Vitex) too - it's a herbal supplement that can help to regulate cycles. Really worked for me but it doesn't work for everyone.

But you may find that the bf is the culprit - I think there's a hormone called prolactin that can affect cycles which is produced more when you're breastfeeding. Not sure if you're looking to reduce or stop bf but you may find your cycle adjusts when you do.

I'm definitely nursing more often than I'd like to... just need to convince DS to stop!

@BrownEyedSquirrel hey, would just like to jump on and say I spoke to my fertility specialist about this. I have a luteal phase of 10/11 days so I asked whether it was a problem. He said there's no concrete evidence that luteal phase has any impact on conceiving and in the 20 years he's been a fertility specialist, there's only been one case that he thought the luteal phase was an issue. It's only considered short if it's less than 7 days too 😊

Oh wow , that's incredibly reassuring! Sometimes Dr Google isn't the best source of information and it's great to hear a specialist's opinion.
