Started Pregnacare Conception tablets, longer period than usual?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a longer period after starting Pregnacare Conception tablets?

I don't know if it's related or not, but I came off the pill in May and since then have had regular periods lasting 4/5 days max, with the final day literally just being the tailing off. I did think this was shorter than what I remembered from before I was on the pill but though it might be because I'm a few years older.

This month I've started taking Pregnacare Conception tablets because my other folic acid ones ran out (Seven Seas I think) and I'm currently on day 7 of my period with every day up until now being a proper full bleed. It does seem to the tailing off now though.

Just wondering if it could be linked to the tablets - I know they say they may lengthen your cycle though didn't expect this to mean my period - or whether it is more likely to be my body still getting back to normal from the pill.

Anyone else seen their periods lengthen from taking these?

@LittleMysSister I was taking this but it definitely changed my cycles which are usually very regular. I didn't like the idea of that so I switched to just taking folic acid on its own and a regular multivitamin tablet.

Thanks @MaltyJones92

Up until now I had been taking the Seven Seas 'Trying for a Baby' tablets as I couldn't find any normal folic acid when I went to buy them. Ended up taking the Pregnacare after these ran out as a friend gave them to me.

Just seems a bit weird that the month when I've switched to these my period has been so much longer than it has been for the past few cycles, but I'm also aware it can take a while for your body to get back to normal after the pill too, so can't isolate a cause!

I wasn't sure on the general multivitamins because isn't there some you're not meant to have if TTC? Vitamin A or something.

@LittleMysSister hmm that might be true, but the multivitamins I take have vitamin A in already. They're prowise multivitamins with iron - I just order them online alongside separate folic acid ones (even though the prowise ones also contain folic acid). I'm sure the special conception ones are absolutely fine too, I just didn't want to risk messing up my cycle as I already have PCOS so don't want to take any chances! :)

If you keep having abnormal periods though it's worth getting it checked out by the GP.

LittleMysSister · 05/10/2021 18:20

@MaltyJones92 Thanks, I defo will but tbh up until now hadn't thought they were abnormal!

Will carry on with what I have left of this box and see what occurs next month. 6/7 days is probably more in line with how I used to be before the pill, just didn't expect it to snap back so suddenly when I'd been only having 4ish days.

Maybe the Pregnacare have even pushed me back to normal, who knows.

@LittleMysSister I don't suppose you've have the Covid vaccine have you? My periods have always been totally regular apart from when I started taking pregnacare and after having my vaccines.

LittleMysSister · 06/10/2021 09:49

@MaltyJones92 I have yeah, but it was a while back now and didn't see any effect after either jab. It's only this month after a couple of weeks of Pregnacare I've seen a change.

Weird isn't it.

Sorry to jump on this thread really late but my very regular cycle is completely out of whack since taking Pregnacare!

I’m going to stop taking it but wondered if your cycles are now back to being regular?

I’m so annoyed as I’ve always had 29 day cycles and currently on CD31 with no sign of AF yet and BFNs.
