Are we dtd enough?

On cycle 10 and worried that we're not having sex enough.
DH has mild low sperm count (11.3mill) so we were advised to have more sex and possibly twice per day but it's proving difficult because of work.
I work a mix of 13 hour day shifts and night shifts on a nicu so it's intense and tiring. DH has been on lates so finishing at 11pm this week. We both work full time and we've just been knackered. We had every intention of trying again last night but I was half asleep and DH won't do it if I'm not really into it which is fair enough.

I'm cd 17 today.
I'm not doing opks anymore but they used to show high fertility from cd9, peaking cd 12-14.
In my fertile week we dtd cd 8, 10, 11 x2 and 14. I had ovulation pains on cd 14 and no more ewcm after cd14.

Do you think this is enough?

I know I sound ridiculous but I've had 10 cycles of nothing so I'm getting desperate.

What you did on your last cycle sounds enough. I hope it happens for you guys soon.

@fairgame84 I'm with you on the long hours and to be honest I'm just exhausted now on month 9.
I did get a positive test in July, I was 2 days late and exactly a week later I had a chemical pregnancy 😔
I had ewcm from 23/9/21 to 27/9/21 and dtd every night as well 28/9/21.
AF is due 11/10/21 but like every other month I'm now losing hope.
Was convinced I was pregnant last month too and I cried sore when AF arrived.

We really put ourselves through hard times ttc.

Here's to good news in the future for us 🍀💞

Thankyou.
It's a hard journey and I try and stay positive but it's just even more disappointing each month. I'm almost at the point of not caring and I'm trying to distract myself with work diy.

Distraction is great for me during the day/evening but when I put my head on the pillow my head goes into overdrive 🙈 doesn't help being a social worker in children services because you're seeing so many bad things and you say to yourself if I was blessed with my own children I know my children would be safe, clean and fed!
Just so unfair.

Always message on here if you need to talk 🧡

I don’t think that’s enough sex in practice, sorry. I know in theory it is, but we struggled with our eldest and my experience was that we had a similar amount to what your describing the first seven months (if I’m reading right, about five times a month) including using OPKs and theoretically perfect timing. Then I went to visit my GP at the end of month seven who was very clear that I should have sex every day because “for some people you’ve just got to throw a lot of semen at it”.

We did that on month eight and I got pregnant. The same theory worked two years later for our second; we only tried a month for her. Might be total coincidence but the same GP told me that she sees lots of women who think they’re infertile but they just aren’t having enough sex. Try it for a month, see what happens. Not going to lie, it’s deeply unpleasant by the end of the month and my husband was walking around like a haunted man, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.

Good luck!

GingerbreadTM · 02/10/2021 21:22

@TrampolineForMrKite I am exhausted just reading that 😅😂😂😂
I would need to book annual leave to complete a month dtd and a bag of ice 😂😂

But I will do this if this month is definitely a BFN

TrampolineForMrKite · 02/10/2021 22:00

Yeah it wasn’t pleasant at all @fairgame84, we were so relieved both times when it worked after only a month of that because you couldn’t do that two months in a row 😂 when it worked on DD2 the combination of being totally over having sex ever again after that onslaught and having a toddler running around and in our bed often meant we didn’t have sex for four months after the conception!

Firsttimetrier · 02/10/2021 22:48

Sex every day @TrampolineForMrKite ?! My DH would be up for it but I think by CD14, I’ll need a break 😂.

We’re going to try the SMEP and that seems a lot with every other day.

@Firsttimetrier yeah, it was bad. But I felt like we had tried everything else. Had done SMEP, OPKs, preseed and every other thing the Internet seemed to say worked. Thankfully it turned out to be last-ditch as in not just our last idea but that it actually worked because you wouldn’t be able to carry on like that month after month! Good luck with the SMEP.

@TrampolineForMrKite every day of the month? No chance!

I've only listed when we've had sex during my fertile week. We do have sex the rest of the month but not every day. Probably 4-5 times per week. DH refuses to force himself if he's tired and he won't do it if I'm tired or not in the mood.
