Multiple static smiley faces on Clearblue Advanced?

Hi Ladies

This is my first month tracking ovulation with OPKs. When the lines started to get darker, I also used Clearblue advanced. I initially got circles but then had two days of flashing smileys and then I got my static smiley. The lines on my OPKS never really got that dark.

Today, I'm 6 dpo and I'm being impatient to test for pregnancy lol. I took an OPK to see if it could detect HCG (I know this isn't 100% accurate but was just giving it a go) and it was SUPER dark. Like darker than the control line. I decided to test on Clearblue Advanced again and got a static smiley. Im cycle day 20 now.

I'm not sure if I should be upset that I've missed a fertile window (my partner is away for work now), or is it possible these OPKs are picking up a pregnancy?

Any experiences much appreciated! x

ALSO! I even had ovulation spotting this month, which I never get so assumed this was a positive sign. Even more confusing!

Just seen your post on the DPO thread - it's possible for your body to have a run-up at ovulation, then actually ovulate a bit later, but it's also possible that you implanted super early... sorry love, our bodies are weird and confusing!

As your partner's away now, try to distract yourself until the weekend then do a sensitive pregnancy test? Hoping for the second option for you!

Aw thank you so much for your kind message! Our bodies sure are funny things! The waiting game is so hard! How's your wait going?

TTC is awful, took 10 cycles first time round and I drove myself nuts. The recent MMC only took 2 cycles to get a BFP, and I didn't use OPKs, just went by CM and cervical position. Felt much easier, and I was much more in tune with my body, but did absolutely nothing to help the TWW. Was rather hoping I'd not have to do it again, but oh well...

I wouldn't say I'm waiting right now - I reckon I've only got the tiniest chance of this cycle. I'm just observing the weirdness for now - my poor body is all out of whack due to the MC. I'm just lurking on boards trying to cheer myself up with other folks' cycles! So 🤞 for you!

@Shortmamashortcycles I'm so very sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It's never an easy thing. Your body and heart will take a while to heal, but I love that you're powering through. You'll get there so soon!

I lost my left tube to an ectopic pregnancy 10 years ago and have only managed chemicals since, so I'm hoping tracking with OPKs might help at least with putting my mind at rest, and helping me take control of my body again. I'm starting to realise I may have BD the wrong time this month, thought I was doing the right thing! Convinced myself I was pregnant haha.

Oh love, that sounds like a rough old time you had. Sounds like OPKs is the right thing for you right now, and lots of baby dust your way. If you're having regular chemicals, have you been to a doctor?

You have to be careful with those clear blue advanced. You just only do them once a day same time of day because they only look for a surge in relation to a previous test. So for example if you test Monday am and get a blank ⭕️ but then test in the evening as well you might get a flashing smiley because your hormones increased compared to the am one but actually it’s not a true surge. Once you get one flashing smiley you will carry on getting them and can have days and days of ‘peak fertility days’ that may not actually be peak fertility days. Only test once a day same time a day. As for picking up pregnancy yes they do. When I had my last miscarriage I was trying to pinpoint ovulation and I couldn’t use them as I still had hcg in my system and all ovulation sticks were super dark. Ovulation tests are excellent and have helped me get pregnant lots of times ( some successful and some not) but you have to use them correctly

@Shortmamashortcycles I hope they are! It just feels nice to be a bit more body aware as my CM isn't always reliable. Sometimes I ovulate and bone dry! Haha. I've only been off contraception for about 4 years of that time, but have been to the doctor quite a few times. Seeing a specialist at the moment so fingers crossed I get some answers!

@Itsbeen84yearss thank you that's so interesting! I didn't realise they were so smart. I will definitely make sure to keep that in mind next time I test. On the flip side of that, this morning I got a faint positive on a HPT but also another very positive ovulation test. Is it possible a pregnancy test could pick up LH?? Google gives me mixed answers haha.
