4 negative and 1 positive!? Help!

Hi everyone!

My husband and I have been TTC for a few months now since getting married and my period is now 8 days late. It’s normally like clockwork and I’ve never been this late before!

I initially had 2 neg tests so left it a few days and tried again, then I had another neg test. Tried one more time and got what looks like a positive?? At first it looked like the test was negative (after 3 mins) so I walked away but came back a few hours later (I know this is out of the recommended time!) but it caught my eye as it looked positive!! It looks like a clear positive and not an evap line?

But I tried a clear blue digital test this morning to confirm and it says not?

I’m so confused and don’t want to pin my hopes on a false positive!

Thanks everyone! xx

The digitals are less sensitive

FWIW, false negatives are far more common than false positives. At this early, I'd trust the positive if you've had one.

@CharliT There is a lot of these threads that say some people don't test positive for a while. I would get a FRER and use first morning wee. I prefer to be overly cautious so I don't get that hideous BFN wave of disappointment. Good luck!!! xx

Noodella18 · 28/09/2021 09:49

@LindaEllen that's not great advice - the 'positive' didn't show up in the timeframe and all her other tests are negative, which at 8 days late doesn't bode well as it would be a blazing positive by now.

OP how sure are you of your dates? Were you tracking ovulation? Have had the covid jab recently, as this can mess with your cycle?

CharliT · 28/09/2021 10:25

@noodella18 - I’ve been using an app to track my cycle but not doing ovulation tests or anything, so I don’t know how accurate it is?? I’m so new to all this 🙈 I had my covid jab nearly a year ago as I’m frontline healthcare.

I think I’ll leave it a couple of days and test again with a different brand maybe?

OK, so you could have just ovulated late. Pregnancy vits can also mess your cycle up by the way!

CharliT · 28/09/2021 12:58

@Noodella18 sorry I’m a little confused! Do you mean I could’ve ovulated late and I could be pregnant and just still really early? Or do you mean I could be ovulating now? Still getting to grips with how all this works! Thanks for your help so far 😌

Ps I went and got some first response tests and some more clear blue x

@CharliT yeah I meant ovulated late so period late as a result (the number of days between ovulation and period stays roughly the same each month) Sorry to hear period arrived, good luck next cycle.
