Hi!

Was looking to see if anyone knows if they managed to conceive without having sex on the day of positive OPK - just the day before it?

We covered Thursday night, got a positive OPK on Friday but it was my sister's wedding so I stayed with her the night before and then we didn't have a chance to cover the Saturday either. Know we've likely missed our chance but just thought I'd ask incase anyone's stories could cheer me up about it 😂

The most fertile day is O-2, so if you ovulated the day after your positive opk you're in with a good shot!

Yes we conceived by DTD the day before peak ovulation test I only know this because we are thinking or TTC again so Iv been scrawling back through my apps lol.

Good luck.

I know it’s a bit TMI but did you have lots of EWCM? I’ve heard that the high quality egg white CM can nourish the “swimmers” for longer while they’re waiting for the egg (even up to 5 days they say).
I’ve heard about a lot of women who convinced while DTD before the ovulation so fingers crossed for you 😊

@Juno231 Ahh is that right? Here's hoping then! To be fair we're 15 cycles in so chances are it won't have worked anyway 😂 but just good to know there's still a chance!

@Mummytobe93 I didn't really but that seems to be an issue I have - I never seem to have much! 😩 I used Preseed so hopefully that helped but to be honest I think I need to look into trying different vitamins or foods etc to increase how much I get, especially if that's what potentially keeps sperm alive for days!

Thanks so much for your help :)

@20viona Haha, that's one of the perks of having those apps! Amazing, thanks for letting me know. It's been 15 months but feels like 15 years, desperate for it to be our turn already so fingers crossed! 🤞

Ah I'm sorry it's been 15 months already! Are you having any investigations done?

KerryW87 · 27/09/2021 13:23

@Juno231 Our referral for the fertility clinic was sent away in July but still waiting for an initial appointment 😩 I know things will be backlogged after lockdowns etc so just one of those things, but definitely wish I could afford to go private, haha.

The thing is, we did fall pregnant after 5 months of trying but sadly we lost my wee boy halfway through pregnancy - he was born in July. So, we obviously have been able to conceive before so not sure why we can't now!

Are you currently TTC as well?

@KerryW87 oh not that's terrible, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your boy. How long did he take you to conceive? I've been trying since Jan 2020 and am waiting to start IVF on the NHS in January 2023. It's a long slog!

KerryW87 · 28/09/2021 15:58

@Juno231 Thank you, that's kind. It only took us five months to conceive him; I wonder if grief and stress are a contributing factor to the unexplained infertility now. Seems the more desperate we both are for another child, the longer it's taking.

Oh god, my heart goes out to you - 2023 is such a long time to have to wait! 😞 Is there any other option they can offer you to help things so you might not need IVF? It most definitely is a slog, you're right! I hope it doesn't come to you having to wait for that 2023 IVF 🤞💕
