So superstitious this month (lighthearted)

I had a miscarriage the cycle before last, and we took a cycle off trying last month to give ourselves a break. I'll be ovulating in the next couple of days and I've been seeing magpies EVERYWHERE.

Now, there's that old rhyme "one for sorrow, two for joy. Three for a girl and four for a boy.....", so I've suddenly become very committed to finding the second magpie of I spy one all on its own. As if somehow it means this cycle a baby might stick! Hmm

I'm not normally a superstitious person AT ALL. Is this happening to anyone else? Help me get through the TWW with your tales of conception superstition!

@Shortmamashortcycles Yes rubbish year so far! I've got a BP machine from my previous pregnancy because I had pre-eclampsia at the end. My BPA is fine thankfully.

@SuperstitiousMagpie Any news this morning? 🙏🏻

SuperstitiousMagpie · 06/10/2021 17:44

@Ell17 another incredibly faint positive. Feeling a bit gross/tired etc but that could just be premenstrual I guess

@SuperstitiousMagpie HCG increases every 48 hours so 🤞🏻 for a darker line tomorrow!

Had to comment only because it made me smile so much!

In August I got home and there were 7 magpies in the garden (1 or 2 sure, but I'd never seen 7 in the area let alone the garden!). I had to text my mum as I couldn't remember the rhyme past 4, she replied "ah, you must have a secret then!". I couldn't think of anything so passed it off.
A few days later I came home and 3 were in the garden (causing mischief) so I told my partner we'll be having a girl then - naturally he rolled his eyes!
A few days after that I just felt off. I was due on that week but didn't feel right. Took a test and found out I was pregnant! My instinct was to call Mum but my partner (who wasn't aware of the 7 magpie conversation I'd had with her) said "no, we have to keep it a secret! At least for now"
Never seen the magpies since (or not noticed them) but it makes me smile! ☺️ currently 9+5 so naturally I've assumed baby is a girl! 😅

@SareBear87 Wow! Congratulations 🎉

@SuperstitiousMagpie How are you doing?

Ell17 · 08/10/2021 10:31

I had this, this morning (8DPO)! Two totally different results from the same sample, same two tests from same brand 😓🤦🏻‍♀️ theres no way this is a positive. It's a false positive. FRER also negative. I thought I was out anyway this month but can't believe this brand. It's Freedom. I've put it on another thread to avoid the brand. I'll retest in a few days is period hasn't started. What a mind fuck!!

@Ell17 alas, a chemical for me this month. Its my fourth (I think actually my fifth), so quite exhausted of them. Have you done any more tests?

@SuperstitiousMagpie, I'm so sorry - I was hoping you were sailing off into the first trimester. I can only imagine how frustrated you are - are you speaking to your GP at all?

SuperstitiousMagpie · 12/10/2021 11:23

@shortmamashortcycles yeah, we were referred to fertility after the last time but it's obviously taking ages. We're getting married in December so we're going to go privately in January.

@SuperstitiousMagpie, you've got a lot of big life stuff coming up! It's good that you have a plan, and I guess the Jan timeline lets you focus on your wedding first. I'm just so sorry that it hasn't been an easy road for you.

I really hope you have a wonderful day and honeymoon, and then lots of answers and progress babywise in 2022!

SuperstitiousMagpie · 12/10/2021 14:50

@Shortmamashortcycles thanks so much love x

@SuperstitiousMagpie I'm so sorry lovely it's just so shit isn't it? Period started today, at least I can focus on starting again.
We went private too at beginning of the year, just get my progesterone checked (which was fine).
Good luck. And congrats on your wedding! as @Shortmamashortcycles said, something exciting to focus on x
