Asking on behalf of a friend who isn't on here -

She has had a recent smear which has come back for HPV... whilst she's waiting for a doctors appointment to discuss further just want to put her mind at ease.

Would this effect her getting pregnant? Sadly something we was never taught about in school!

Hi @Nala97

I recently went for a colposcopy after getting HPV positive results on my smears 3 years in a row. I told them I was TTC and they didn’t say anything about how it could affect it. I feel like they might have mentioned it if I may have caused issues.

Please let me know if you hear any differently xx

Hi Nala, please do advise your friend to seek professional medical advice if she has any concerns, but from my own experience :

HPV positive with CIN1 changes for a good few years in a row. Had to have screening approx every 6 months.
No treatment apart from a punch biopsy, negative for cancer cells so just was monitored those every 6 months to ensure the situation did not worsen / change.

Hospital was absolutely amazing I could not fault how seriously it was all taken and respectfully handled.

HPV will often self resolve within approx 2 years or so. Mine took more like 4 years but finally last year was HPV negative and normal result.
Now back at 3 yearly testing

Additionally, 5+3 currently on what 🙏🏼 Will be baby no.1. I won’t disclose the length of time TTC out of respect for any still trying but it was SHORT.

Best of luck to your pal ❤️ Hope this helps
