No period but negative test…

Hi all

I’m new here, so hope this is appropriate…

I have the contraceptive implant but it was due to come out 4 months ago. My GP won’t remove it, and referred me to FPC which has been a nightmare trying to get an appointment (I work full time).

Anyway, my period is now 2 weeks late. It’s been 5.5 weeks since the start of my last period. I took a pregnancy test this morning (clear blue early detection, taken first things in the morning) which has come back negative. I’m normally fairly regular, with shorter than average cycles if anything.

Could this be a false negative? Or could the missed period just be some weird side effect of the implant staying in too long or something? Do I need to wait longer to know for sure?

Pregnancy would definitely be a positive. We’re wanting to start trying. But I’m just confused by why the heck else I would not have got my period by now.

As we’ve not been trying all of this is new to me so I’ve no idea how it all works/when to test etc. I’ve been frantically googling for days!

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice!
