False positive pregnancy test?

Please help!

I did a pregnancy test today and it came back positive but I don't understand how. The last few times I had sex were on 1st and 10th August. I then came on my period on the 13th August for 5 days.

Also to add, I had to have a pregnancy test when I was admitted to hospital on 28th August and this came back negative.

Could this be a false positive? I know they're practically impossible but I can't explain how else I could be pregnant.

Did the line come up in the time specified to read the test?
If it came up after then it could be an evaporation line?
Why are you testing if you are sure you aren’t pregnant?

Buy a few more tests and test again?

The line came up straight away, within seconds. I only did a test to stop my friend nagging me.

Was the period you had normal? Not lighter? Did it come at the time you expected it?

False positives are possible but very unlikely, and it’s more likely to have had a false negative in the hospital, and then maybe the period was something else?

Test again. False positives are very unlikely!
Do you have a live in partner/one who stays frequently? Is there a chance he had a go while you were asleep? (I say this because, I woke to find my now-ex husband inside! I was very upset with him once I realised what was going on ).

Sounds like the 1st August was the one!
