Hi,

So hubby and I have been ttc for a couple of years now.
We track ovulation etc.
Last cycle my ovulation was later than usual and my ovulation pain was off the freaking chart !!
Anyway I got my period ( bleeding for 4 days normal first two days and then light for a couple of days, clots etc so pretty convinced it was my AF) anyway. That was on cd29, again no big issue, little later than my usual 26/27 day cycle.

Anyway started testing for ovulation on cd6 although I was still brown spotting, I'm using the fertility monitor from clear blue so it beeps at you when you have to test. Anyway got my peak around cd8 !! Which is crazy early so just though maybe it had caught my lh surge following AF. I continued to test and it then went to high and now low ( has been for 2 days) so figured that I would be ovulating late again this month.
This afternoon I noticed I had brown discharge, like a proper stain of it (tmi sorry) and then some browny red when I wipe. Now I'm only cd13 so I'm already freaking a bit as I'm 40 and I was wondering if it's a mid cycle bleed and maybe I'm having issues. I decided for some reason to take a pregnancy test, don't ask me why I think I was just thinking hmmmmn maybe me 'AF' was actually a twin 🤣🤣........I got a bloody strong line !! ( pic attached) by my calculations I would be 6 weeks today....but I have ZERO symptoms !! Not a thing at all !!!!!

Anyone able to assist with helping me work out this shit storm ?

Confused...seriously confused !!!! Help !!

Congratulations :)

It's possible to bleed a lot around implantation and during the first trimester. I had massive bleeds in both mine.

Pop along to the docs and go for a scan at the EPU and they can help see how far along you are.

Not everyone gets symptoms. My friend didn't find out she was pregnant until 14 weeks! She had no clue. Was on the pill the whole time

Indianna2006 · 10/09/2021 20:49

@Carol1980 yes it sounds like you could be about 6 weeks and just experienced bleeding in pregnancy etc which can happen early on. Some women still sometimes get their periods!

You could get a clearblue digi test which indicates weeks for you. As they give you 1-2/2-3 or 3 weeks plus on then. Which indicates how pregnancy you are since you ovulated.

And with your date at about 6 weeks I’d expect to be 2/3 or 3 weeks plus. Call your Docters and midwide and they will book you and appointment and help you workout your dates.

Congrats!

A big congratulations 🥳
Happy healthy pregnancy x

Carol1980 · 11/09/2021 07:32

Hey ladies thanks for your replies ❤️

I've ordered some weeks indicators.

So far I've had some brown when wiping but nothing else. What I'm confused about is the clots....when I got what I presumed was my period there were a couple of small clots which I know you can't get from implantation bleeding.
Think I'll book an early scan and see what the deal is, I'm actually still a bit like wtf ! We had a MC the end of July there, only about 6 weeks along so hoping that it's not happening again!
Although given I only found out it was a BFP yesterday I dont think I'm used to the concept yet anyway.
I'm also beyond confused about the lack of symptoms ! I've had a bit of indigestion but other than that my boobs feel normal, no pain at all ! In my previous pregnancies ( we've had about 4 mc, 1 full term baby) I've always had sore boobs 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

HurryUpAndWait23 · 11/09/2021 09:15

My sore boobs never kicked in until 8 weeks plus.

With my most recent baby, I got absolutely no symptoms at all. I was tired but that could have easily been explained away with something else, had I not had the positive test.
My first real sign of pregnancy was a bump from 14 weeks.

My pregnancy before that I was crippled with sickness it was horrific.
All 4 pregnancies (3 children) have been different (all 4 were boys).

Sounds as though you need a scan OP.

Can you afford to go private? I only ask because I'm personally very impatient and would go private for answers. 😁

Congratulations!

Carol1980 · 11/09/2021 12:32

@HurryUpAndWait23
Yeah I'm going to book a private scan. If my calculations are correct then I'm 6 weeks today. Managed to get a clear blue plus again today ( waiting on the weeks ones through Amazon) and still a super strong line !

I'm totally impatient !! The brown/dark pink spotting has stopped, so I'm hoping it was just irritation and nothing more serious.

I'm literally still in shock, I honestly fully believed that my last Full bleed was my AF. Weirdly it was a little heavier than normal, thought maybe my vitamins had finally helped with my lining etc but nope !!

Still no symptoms, where as with my daughter I had a full on bounce a brick off sore swollen boobs, tiredness etc....if anything I've just felt normal !

@Carol1980 hello op. Sorry couldn't be much of a help that never experienced the same issue before. But as what others were saying, it is pretty common to be symptomless in early weeks, so that could be it. Wishing you well and let us know how it goes with ur first appointment soon ☺️🤞🏻 anyway, if u dont mind me asking did u test negative before the "period" ? 😅

Carol1980 · 11/09/2021 16:38

@beautifulinitstime
Hi, yes I did test negative. I was only 12 dpo when my af turned up. It started just like any other af, brown spotting, full on red and then full flow for a couple of days like I mentioned before, I had a couple of small clots too and it was heavier than my usual light flow, after 2 days of this it then got light and I then spotted for a few days afterwards. It lasted a total of 7 days with the spotting being the latter days. Didn't think anything more of it. Then we started to test for ovulation and it came up as high on cd6 and 7, then peak on cd8 and 9 and then high again after that for 2 days and now low again.
For some reason I though I'll do a test yesterday due to the brown spotting and boom ! Positive !!

@Carol1980 well, that was one strange "period" then. Some people did experience heavy implantation bleeding though, so it is possible. cant imagine the shock of seeing two lines on your test when we least expecting it 😅🤞🏻

Carol1980 · 11/09/2021 17:11

@beautifulinitstime total shock !! It came up really quickly and I was literally just saying wtf for about 30 mins !!

@Carol1980 hello op. Have you gone for any appointment with the ob yet? Any update? ☺️

Carol1980 · 14/09/2021 05:54

Hi,

No appointment yet, had some dull aches yesterday on my left side. Then had more spotting yesterday though, I've been waiting a few days before taking another weeks clear blue indicator. I was prettt convinced yesterday that the pain and spotting was the beginnings of a MC, but it's fully started so I'm still holding on to hope.
Can't get an early scan yet, earliest dates available are week after next so we're going to wait and see what happens 🤷‍♀️
Past experience with EPU with my very first MC means I'm unlikely to get an early scan with them until I'm at least another week or so further on 😟

OP posts:
HurryUpAndWait23 · 14/09/2021 06:17

What do you mean it's fully started?
Is it red or brown?

I had pain and cramping with my first two babies.
I think that's not unusual.

Carol1980 · 14/09/2021 12:02

Meaning that it's still just spotting which seems to be only when wiping. So no full flow etc as yet.

I think my mind is so focused on the fact that I'm spotting that it just mean a MC 🤦🏼‍♀️

Like I said I'm holding out hope that it is just some light bleeding which is normal 🤞🤞

Hey, this is exactly what I've just experienced. Had a slightly heavier than usual longer bleed that arrived bang on time for AF which finished on 31 Aug. I tested on 2 Sept as was super emotional at work and my BBT was still high and got a strong positive test! Over the last few weeks I've been spotting throughout, from brown to pink to more reddy, nothing touching a pad but a fair amount when I wiped. I also had zero pregnancy symptoms.

Went to the doctors twice but as I had no pain or cramps they just said wait for two weeks then take another test. I couldn't wait any longer so booked a private scan at 6+3 but unfortunately it confirmed an early loss. I'm still testing positive but the bleed has started to get a little heavier now.

I really hope you have a more positive outcome OP - light bleeding and spotting is common in early pregnancy. I hope the scan goes well for you - fingers crossed 🤞

Polly99 · 15/09/2021 18:27

OP, I do not wish to alarm you but I had similar several years ago (BFN, period like bleed and then a BFP on what I thought was CD 8 or so) and it was an ectopic pregnancy. You should get a scan as soon as you can to check it is in the right place. The EPU should see you.

Carol1980 · 22/09/2021 17:43

Thought I would post an update.

So the hcg continued to use, but started to get cramping which was pretty bad. Went for a private scan to find that despite being 7 weeks pregnant that my uterus was empty.
I was the scanned at the hospital and bloods taken which showed my hcg as 19,000+
They then found a mass on my left Fallopian tube. Confirmed ectopic pregnancy. Went in for surgery to find that they had to remove my tube as well as my left ovary as I also had a ruptured ovary.

Don't want to freak anyone out but please insist on scans with EPU if you have similar symptoms. I was lucky but it could have ended very badly !!

So sorry to hear @Carol1980. Was reading through the thread thinking that it sounded exactly like my ectopic 6 years ago and then I saw your update. I would emphasise what you say about EPU and early scans. Thank god my EPU was brilliant and scanned without any hesitation but I would not have thought to have badgered them had they said "no". It's good advice.

Take care Flowers
