Ovarian cyst

Suspect I have an ovarian cyst, I've had lower abdominal discomfort now for over three weeks, started 4 days after my last period and hasn't subsided since. It's located lower abdomen but slightly to the left.

My period was due 3 days ago and I'm late, I have ruled out pregnancy as had many negative tests.

The only other symptom I have is slight sickness at times (prompted me to test for pregnancy). Ive had swabs done and no infections, am waiting for an ultrasound but may take 6-8 weeks for appointment to come through.

Anyone else experience this? Or similar?

Bump as have just been thinking an ovarian cyst might be the cause of my issues too!

A few odd days of spotting for past couple of months (am bf 17mo & haven't had a proper pp period yet) also nausea/weird taste/sensitivity to smell that I recognise from previous pregnancies, & a feeling of "fullness" in pelvis with odd aches/pains in that region. Several negative pregnancy tests.

Previous pregnancy I had an ovarian cyst picked up on an early scan, and I remember having the odd sharp pain on that side around that time. By the 12wk scan it had got smaller & that was the last I heard of it.

Wondering whether to book a private ultrasound to confirm whether it is a cyst/shed light on what is going on... Or could go via GP but put off by wait for ultrasound (& will probably be told it's related to the bf, which it may well be).

I had this (well three). I had a private scan at ultrasound direct to find out why my period was late but pregnancy tests were negative. I would do the same if you can/ the wait for NHS scan is long.

Thanks @Houserenoqueen - did you need any follow-up for your cysts? Just wondering how follow-up etc would work if I go for a private scan at somewhere like ultrasound direct (have been looking at a similar company near me where I had an early private pregnancy scan)

@fentiger I had 3, all 8-9cm. I think normally they are removed at 10cm. But I was advised to wait and see if they went away - they did. I had the scan in June, another scan in Aug confirmed they were gone and I got pregnant the same cycle. The usual advice is to wait 3 months and they will have gone.

I have a cyst on my ovary picked up at my 12 week scan. I will find out next week at next scan if anything needs to be done. I remember the pain from it before I found out I was pregnant.
