OPK help, please!

Hello,

First time user here so looking for some advice if possible please. TIA.

Bit of background, I have quite irregular periods with my last period being 10th July. They seem to skip a month. This is assumed to be due to cysts on my ovaries so I take OPK’s to predict my cycles and know if I’m safe (and also to know if my body is working!). I started doing this around June. I’m not TTC but not against it happening if it does. I have never received a positive result. I use cheapies and have 2 CB’s I got in the sale.

Yesterday, I recorded a faint line following a shooting pain in my belly. I know this means negative so I took a CB dual which presented a static smiley (12pm). I took the cheap tests again today (3 of them) and all are positive. I did a CB advanced (pink one) which also presented a static smiley (12pm).

According to online, you will ovulate 24-48 hours approx after obtaining your first positive OPK. The CB suggests this was yesterday, and the cheapies suggest today. I will not be able to BD for the rest of the week due to working patterns but did last night and Monday.

What I’d like to know (if anybody has experience with this) is when am I likely to ovulate and is it likely I will miss the window? Also when do I calculate my DPO from, the date of first pos OPK?

Worth noting aswell that I had stretchy CM yesterday day time around 4, BD around 7pm but it’s quite gummy today. sorry if TMI!

I too am in the exact same boat as you, positive opk yesterday night and had a lot of watery slippery CM (was out shopping and honestly thought I’d wet myself 😂) so BD’d that same night, been having sex most days for the last week also.

I’m not sure if the positive OPK last night means I will ovulate today or tomorrow? I done another one at 11am this morning and it was negative, with a line lighter than the control line.
So did I catch the tail end of the ovulation last night as I didn’t test that AM?

Hope you get your answers and never know we might both get a BFP this month 😁

It’s the worst 😂. I’ve not really tracked anything but that’s how I noticed CM as thought I had too lol! I would imagine (though no expert) that if it’s dropping it means O has happened, whereas if it was still positive it would indicate the surge. I’m just going by what I’ve read though so could be wrong.

How do you attach a photo? I’ll show you mine. I just don’t understand how cheapies can be negative but CB be a static smiley so at my peak.

That is a definite clear positive, did you do any in the days prior?

There is a little paper clip icon under the box where you type and that will allow you to attach a photo!
Last month I used the clear blue smiley and got my static on cycle day 22, then a positive opk the following day on cycle day 23! So not sure whether it is more sensitive than opk as it measure estrogen aswell as LH so gives your peak before the opk does?

I am not an expert tbh, I’m trying to get to grips with it all myself 😂 I’m currently on holiday in Tenerife at the moment and didn’t bring my CB digi with me only opk’s, due home tonight though so will test it then and if it’s gone back to a blank circle I’m guessing that my surge has finished.

I’ve had niggling pains in my left side this afternoon so thinking today is ovulation ….who knows!

Oh brilliant thank you, I've only just downloaded the app. It won't let me post a picture of mine - grr. I thought I'd see today whether still positive and done 2 and pink CB, all positive/static smiley. So this will be 48 hours after the initial ones were completed. Strange! I did get some 'fertile' CM yesterday, twinges on left side and cervix is very high (I can't feel it) so makes me think I'm going to OV today/tomorrow so probably missed the window as only DTD once Wednesday and no chance the rest of the week.

Did you do a test? What were the results? Hopefully you managed to DTD in time! How long have you been trying?

I heard CB peak means your LH surge is high, but cheapies usually seem to come positive the day after. I don't know much either but fingers crossed for you! Xx

Maybe you have a longer LH surge! It’s such a minefield isn’t it all this ovulation testing! Hopefully the DTD on Wednesday will be enough but if not next month it is! 😁
We had W miscarriage at 12 weeks in June and my partner then had to go away as he’s in the army and he only got back 2 weeks ago so we’ve been trying since then!

I’ve done my CB digital last night when I got home and it was a blank circle…although I don’t know whether maybe that’s because I hadn’t used it for 5 days and it had re set 🤔
I done an opk this morning and it’s a faint line again and I’ve put them all into the Premom app and it does definitely look like it peaked on Wednesday night so let’s hope!! We had sex all around that time and I’ll do it tonight and tomorrow just to be sure.

I must have, I've just done another cheapie and it's a clear negative now so I had 48 hours of positives. On Wednesday I had stretchy, "snot like" (sorry TMI) but cloudy CM which I've now read is infertile so can kill sperm. I've only got the EWCM yesterday afternoon and lots today so I think I've missed the window as along with the twinges I felt last night, I think I'm ovulating today. BD Wednesday around 7.30-8ish with infertile CM so think I'm out. Need to stop peeing on a stick lol!

Yea maybe, I reckon you have already O'd and hopefully caught it at the right moment. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, fingers crossed for you! Please keep me updated. How many DPO are you now then do you think? I don't even know when to calculate DPO's lol! Xx

Aftet a positive opk test ovulation norm happens 24 to 36 hours l8r but can't go off them alone temping is the best way to track so when you get a positive opk test temp taking will tell you how long after it happened cause your body can gear up to ovulate then for some reason not.

Have you been tested for pcos.

If not I would get your doc to run tests with your period being irregular and cysts on your ovaries there all signs.

Hiya! I have another child which is how I found out about the cysts initially 5.5 years ago. I definitely have them so likely I have PCOS but I'm not overweight (my BMI is actually underweight) and have never suffered with acne etc. I do get the odd stray body hair though but none on my face. I've done ovulation tests quite a lot over the last few months and never had a positive until Wednesday.

I've just got a negative off my CB too so I believe I surged for 36 hours. I have EWCM now and dull ache followed by twinges last night so I think I have ovulated (or going to shortly). Think I've missed the window this month. Now to wait another 3 months lol! X

It not unknown for ladies to have pcos but not to be over weight I have read it loads on these threads nt everyone will have same symptoms for having it, don't know if you watch teen mom maci has it but not at all over weight. Good luck on your ttc journey I'm ttc num 1 but have had 4 miscarriages and 1 cp 7 months from last lost and still waiting on my bfp lol.
