Hello, one of my best friends is undergoing IVF and on her second round, had 16 embryos, 14 of which divided very quickly and mutated. I know very little about what this means but has anyone had a similar siutation or know of a great hosptial for this? She is currently under the care of Bath but maybe shes needs more specialised care; i dont know very much at all about it and would like to offer her more informed support. Thanks.

I've had treatment at the Lister & the ARGC. Both are far more cutting edge than your average fertility centre. I'd strongly recommened the ARGC (but it is EXTREMELY expensive - around 8-10,000 per cycle), Lister was good but not quite as thorough.

The only advice I'd give you is to be very cautious about offering her advice right now - you obviously care about her but if this cycle has gone tits up she's probably completely raw & very sensitive. Tell her you're sorry, you love her & you want to help - then just wait & see how it goes. It can be so frustrating to get well meaning advice from people who haven't been there IYKWIM.

Hi notmyrtle, yes, i do know exactly what you mean, so i will take your good advice and wait a week or two and then send her some information. It's unebelievably expensive isnt it? Can't quite believe it. Is the Lister as expensive? I am six months pregnant which also makes me feel anxious about adding to the throng of unwanted advice (plus our other best friend is 3.5 months pregnant, both of us by accident, one of lifes weird ironies). So i'll follow your leads and bring it up in a few weeks. Thanks again, hope things have worked out well for you.
