kirinm · 03/11/2021 23:42

Fantastic @Lastyearttc wishing you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy x

Catconfusion · 04/11/2021 09:47

@Lastyearttc that’s great news. Did you see someone in person? All my midwife appoints are over the phone until 28 weeks. That’s why we books the gender scan to break time up. So glad your midwife appointment went well. It’s such a good sign at this stage. I hope the 20 week scan comes quickly for you. I have 10 days to wait. Luckily getting movement now so that’s reassuring. Anyway good luck for the next few weeks. Xx

KediKat · 04/11/2021 11:04

Hi there, I hope you don’t mind if I join this group. I am 46 and still staying for my first. I didn’t start ttc till I was 43. Six months of trying I fell pregnant but miscarried at 8weeks. About 7 months later again I miscarried at 5 weeks, then again a month later at 5 weeks. The last miscarriage was Jan 20, all this ttc and miscarrying had taken its toll on me, so I deleted the apps left all the groups I was following I really needed a break. So I went away to spend time with my dad abroad to recharge and thought about enquiring about ivf but then the pandemic hit and I was in lockdown, not able to return home to my husband for 5 months. Thus really depressed me because we had lost time ttc and I was another year older (45). I think I just had to accept that this wasn’t going to happen for us, even if we were to try ivf abroad, travel is not so easy anymore. Long story short… beginning of this year I had heavy breakthrough bleeding which was suspected to be caused by fibroids or polyps in the uterine cavity, after a long nhs wait I was seen end of July, I needed to have a hysteroscopy to investigate. it was here when they asked about my history of pregnancy that after 3 miscarriages I am entitled to be seen at the recurrent miscarriage clinic if I wanted to know the reason for miscarriage. At the time of my miscarriage my Gp never told me this nor referred me. I did want to know why I miscarried even though I feel it is too late, so that day they took lots of bloods for the recurrent miscarriage clinic and did more bloods at the beginning of the next cycle. I had my Hysteroscopy end of September and that came back normal as did biopsy but my bloods didn’t. My blood tested positive for the lupus anticoaqulant. In other words, the diagnosis is one of the
primary antiphospholipid syndrome. Without treatment the chances of miscarriage are very high at 70% to 80 %.
With appropriate therapy her chances of success are also very high at 70% to 80 %. The therapy comprises Fragmin
injections, Aspirin and Progesterone. Confused
So now I am waiting to see a haematologist but my GP has started my on baby aspirin till then. It is two weeks since I started aspirin at the start of my current cycle and I track basal temperature with AVA and this is the first cycle that is looking normal and I have ovulated and started to have symptoms. I am scared to get hopes up that this month might be different. Sorry for going on for so long, I guess I just needed somewhere to say this out loud as I have been over whelmed by it all. I see many women have recurrent miscarriages are there others that have this same diagnosis.
Thank you for reading/listening to me. ❤️

@Catconfusion - yes all in person. I had a blood test too as I am rhesis negative so now they can check if baby is without giving the anti d injection regardless. She also used the Doppler and said if I was struggling at any time to pop in and have a listen to baby. So reassuring after all the mcs.

Your 20 week scan is just around the corner! How exciting x

DOB78 · 04/11/2021 12:50

@kedikat goodness me what awful experiences you've had but it now sounds like steps are being put in place to resolve the issues you've had. Keep hopeful x

Honey2 · 04/11/2021 19:17

Hi all, I also wanted to share my happy news, today I went for another scan and saw baby had grown nicely, I’m now 9+2 weeks which is spot on for dates. I know it’s still one step at a time but I’m allowing myself to begin to feel quite positive.

Following on from the discussion about progesterone above - I was also prescribed progesterone by the Recurrent MC clinic. I don’t know if that’s why this one stuck but the 2 preg before didn’t so… I would recommend pushing for it if you can. Despite being told to take from a positive preg test I did some research and decided to take from 4DPO to help implantation. You do need to be sure you have ovulated though as otherwise it would delay it. I can also say that although the Dr at MC clinic was realistic about chances at my age he was never negative or judgemental and did everything they could to make it happen for us.
Sending good luck to everyone TTC - it is possible xxx

99pctpractice · 04/11/2021 19:37

@kirinm i had no luck when i went to the gp (they just told me to keep on trying), but my husband was more pushy/saw someone different at the gp and they sorted out fertility tests for both of us and a referral to a fertility consultant. so i think a combination of luck and pushiness is the way to go. also, given you've been trying for 20 months they absolutely should refer you because that's in line with the nice guidelines (we had been trying for less than 6 months, so in some respects it was fair enough that they told me to come back later).

Catconfusion · 04/11/2021 20:02

Aww @Honey2 that’s fantastic news. You’re over the biggest hurdle. If all is well at 9 weeks your chances are great. Fingers crossed all continues to go well. Xx

DOB78 · 04/11/2021 21:20

@Honey2 that's fantastic news! This might sound stupid but how did you know you were definitely ovulating? I'm trying to gain as much info as I can so I can argue our case for progesterone to be prescribed. I'm certain this is the issue we've been pregnant twice but the little tinkers won't stick.

Thankyou everyone in the group for sharing their journeys the positive and the difficulties you have faced its really helping and I'm very grateful xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/11/2021 21:28

@Lastyearttc that's great news, really pleased for you

@Catconfusion movement is such an exciting stage, glad it's all going well xx

@KediKat hi and welcome, so sorry for your losses. I do think it's wrong that we have to wait for three losses before they can be investigated and even though it wasn't great news with the blood results at least you know what's going on now and something can be done to help.

@Honey2 that's lovely to hear, glad it's all going well for you

Honey2 · 04/11/2021 21:38

@DOB78 I chartered my Basel body temperature, you need to do it the same time each morning BEFORE you get up or even move really. One ovulation has occurred you will see this by a sustained increase in temp. You can use an app that tracks your temp and tells you when you’ve ovulated. I used fertility friend xx

Mattieandmummy · 05/11/2021 05:42

Morning everyone, I've been really quiet on here as I needed a bit of space to get my head together after the last chemical pregnancy.

I did a test at 12dpo this morning as I need to stop taking progesterone if not pregnant. Did a test at 10dpo - bfn. This morning at 12dpo, bfp!!!! Hope this is the one!

Mattieandmummy · 05/11/2021 06:56

@DOB78 you get your 21 days blood test done to check your are definitely ovulating and it will show you your progesterone levels. Either via GP or via Medichecks or Forth. Our consultant told us it must be 7 days after ovulation so not necessarily on day 21. If you see three consecutive days of temperatures over 36.4 you have ovulated but it should be a significant jump up so mine on the day after ovulation jumps pretty much always to 36.4, then 36.7ish day after then 36.8 ish day after. If your temperature remains high until just before your period - great. If there's a slow rise or it dips down for several consecutive days until the beginning of your period that suggests low progesterone. BBT can tell you amazing things - I get a temperature dip the day before ovulation and at implantation I also get a significant temperature dip. Before ovulation temperature should be below 36.4, mine in the five days before ovulation ranges from 36.3 to 36.18. Have probably banged on enough so I'll stop!

DOB78 · 05/11/2021 11:29

@Honey2 Thanks will have to try tracking BBT get some more info. @mattieandmummy thankyou for your advice/input and Congratulations to you!!! Everything for you x

Mattieandmummy · 05/11/2021 13:01

@DOB no problem, if you want any more advice on BBT just shout x

Mattieandmummy · 05/11/2021 13:02

And thanks, I really hope this is the one. Fourth pregnancy this year so I really really really hope so 🤞

Catconfusion · 05/11/2021 18:13

Aww @Mattieandmummy this is great news. I’m so pleased for you. I really hope thiis it! Xx

kirinm · 05/11/2021 20:14

My GP has agreed to carrying out some initial blood tests. Hopefully I'll get a better idea of what's going on once they're done.
