Evaporation line or positive?

Hello!
I’ve had a little bit of difficult reading my pregnancy results this month, every time in the past has been a really clear negative. The first one I took was so faint I assumed it was just an evaporation line.

The second one I took this morning, two days later and was negative after 3 minutes, however, after about 6/7 minutes a very obvious blue line appeared but it was only half a line.

I’m a bit confused because I read evaporation lines are colourless but this line is very clearly blue, however it’s not a full line. Its also over the time limit so I may be clinging a bit desperately to this too.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I’m about 10DPO and it was an ultra early test with clearblue. Going forward if this isn’t successful I’ll be only using pink dye tests!

Sorry to say, but if the positive appears after the time frame it's an invalid result. That doesn't necessarily mean you're not pregnant, maybe it's just too early. I love this site here, maybe it will help you a bit as well - I like working with numbers sometimes.

So that means only 2/3 or all pregnant women got a positive test at 10dpo. And you wrote you're "about 10dpo" which might mean you could also be earlier? At 9dpo, only around 50% will get a positive at that point.

Thank you,

I had a feeling from all the googling that it was a false positive but I think I was clinging to the hope. Trying for about 6/7 months now and it’s tough waiting!

Thanks for the info I will definitely check that out. I’ll be trying again in a few days with a digital but I don’t want to waste it yet!

@TTBAM91 that's why I stopped testing early - I can't handle BFN. Not because I can't handle not being pregnant, but I can't handle results that actually don't mean anything. A BFN at 10dpo could as well be a positive at 13dpo right? So I usually wait out until the day AF is supposed to arrive.

I had a false positive with clear blue. It was definitely an evap line as I checked after the 3 minute mark. It’s was very bright and blue. It’s so disheartening I’ve stopped using blue dye tests now.

It honestly is, when I saw it was blue I got so excited but had to try and bring myself back to reality.

I was sure evap lines couldn’t be a colour.

I’ll try a digital test if I’m late but not feeling too hopeful for this month.
