First visit, need advice please.
Age 46, never pregnant, periods like clockwork.
Last two periods have been heavy. Had long chat with GP about length of cycle, cervical mucous, regularity etc. GP thought I might be starting perimenopause and it would be possibly six to ten years before menopause. She ordered blood test but not menopause screen. I got nurse to tick menopause screen box and my FSH came back at 38. Nurse said this is very close to menopause.
I didn't tell them that I was hoping to try for a baby. I met someone special six months ago and we would both love to have a child. We realise that it is unlikely to happen because of my age but, since both my mum and her sister had pregnancies at 48 and 49, I did hope that we'd be lucky.
Is there any possibility that I might still be ovulating even now and again?

hi, and welcome.

I'm not an expert, but I believe that it is possible to get pg even during the menopause, so whilst your age would be a factor against getting pg, I don't think it is impossible

Thanks for that, I wish that I'd never asked the nurse to tick the box. At least we could have had fun trying.

it's possible - my friends mum was in her late 40's and had thought she'd been on the menopause for a couple of years - she went to the gp as she didn't feel 'quite right' and had put on weight.....wait for it.......she was 6 months pregnant.....she didn't have a clue - she'd had 2 babies before but still didn't have any idea
