Hi all

4th cycle ttc and considering trying smep method. Has anyone done this and ended up pregnant as a result? Seems to be a lot of BD and my partner is nightshift but going to give it our best attempt to try it!!

Any good news stories I'd love to hear them xxx

Aw sorry to hear that!! Fingers crossed for u for this time round. I have read it's exhausting I'm totally expecting it to be especially when my partner comes home from work I get up and then leaves for work as I go to bed. Just need to try some BD'ing during my lunch hours - benefit of still working from home I suppose lol

Xx

Aw I have seen mixed reviews on it. I'll just need to try and give it a go and see. I'd try anything just now! Xx

Worked for me! Unfortunately it was an ectopic, but that has nothing to do with the SMEP. I'm doing it again this cycle. It's nice to cover all your bases to make sure you don't miss the right timing, without "overdoing" it. If you and your partner already have intercourse daily there is no need for SMEP, but if you're more in the once-a-week territory it's nice to look into.
Yes, it takes out the romance. But we are enjoying it so far. And I think that's the key to it - try to have fun while doing it :)

@sb2991000 I have only ever tried to get pregnant 4 times, every time we used SMEP and every time I got pregnant the first month Smile

sb2991000 · 26/08/2021 23:43

@Bundaberg84 aw sorry to hear about your ectopic I had an ectopic too 10 years ago. That was an unexpected pregnancy when I was just 19. This is my first time ttc - on the 4th cycle trying. Have just been really doing the deed every few days on my fertile week but making sure to it do when I get my peak lh test and the day after so going to try SMEP this time around. My partners shifts do make it difficult and it defo takes the romance out of it when it's scheduled but we do enjoy it out with fertile week & when he's not on nights.

Fingers crossed for u this cycle xxx

Worked 4 times for me. DS1, then sadly 1 late loss of ds2, 1 chemical and a MMC.

Trying it again now. DH also a night shift worker which is why I'm up at 2am!

We do SMEP or every day in the run up to a positive OPK. Then keep going for another couple of days, day off, then dtd once more.

We also use preseed.

@sb2991000 good luck with everything xxx

Bundaberg84 · 27/08/2021 13:39

@sb2991000 thank you! Yeah the ectopic pregnancy wasn't a walk in the park, but I'm just grateful we're living in this day and age and my health wasn't affected (well, other than I only have one tube left now, but still better than everything else that could have happened right?)
My partner works shifts as well, it's not easy I know - and this morning I really wasn't in the mood. But I'm doing SMEP as good as possible and not stress myself too much if it doesn't work out exactly like the plan ;) just making sure to be on time around ovulation.
