Hello all, So I am 7DPO today, tested and obviously it was BFN but I can't help but already feel so disappointed that I am out which I know sounds dramatic. For past couple days I was having headaches, moodswings and just generally feeling unwell aswell as come slight cramping, now I don't seen to be having much apart from slight cramping and slight sore boobs. Also before my tiredness was really bad but can't say if that's changed cause didn't get much sleep last night anyway. One more thing just to check i ovulated on 14th August, is it accurate I'm 7 DPO today? Thanks all!

Hi @sarahagneswhiteley. I'm sorry you're feeling so crap! If you're sure you ovulated on 14th (as in you're tracking with bbt or opks), then yes you're 7 dpo today.

But, it's unlikely you've even implanted yet, and therefore unlikely that you've generated enough hcg to give a positive on even the most sensitive test. The window for implantation is 6-12 days with day 9 being the most common. Only a really, really tiny percentage of people implant on day 6 and it takes somewhere between 24 and 48 (sometimes 72) hours for hcg to double, so yes, it's bananas to count yourself out yet!

Your symptoms could just as easily be PMS I'm afraid, so symptom spotting this early is pretty much useless too.

If you can, I'd step away from the tests until at least 11 or 12 dpo. I know the wait is a killer, but testing early really doesn't help if you're struggling to manage your expectations of the process. As tempting as it can be to test before then, it's worse (and more stressful) to feel the disappointment and stress before it's actually warranted - I learned this the hard way. You want to test when the outcome is much more likely to be a real result, either way.

I do hope you get your bfp!

Thank you so much @weathervane123! I know I sound incredibly silly, have been trying around a year but took probably 7 or 8 months of a break in between due to MC that really hit me hard. I have PCOS so it's difficult to even know if a missed period will mean pregnancy as that can be really normal for me so I feel I rely on tests even more so than other women but always test early! Got married in July and we took a few months break because we wanted to enjoy wedding and I remember now why my partner seemed so happy with that idea 😂 I'm staring at tests I know are negative with a torch for ages and it all sends me a bit mad! Anyway thank you for all your help i know I am silly to be testing but its nice to hear someone else say that I'm definitely not out! Will keep you updated and again thanks so much 🙂

Hi @sarahagneswhiteley
I'm 7 days past a positive ovulation test and I've been cramping for the last two days, also had a tiny bit of bleeding 2 days ago. Sometimes feels like I'm going to have a period but it's much earlier in the month than these symptoms normally appear. From what I've read about implantation it's still early days for that too and to do a pregnancy test so I'm going to hold off till 10 dpo to test. Some people don't test positive till a week after their missed period so I'll keep testing if negative and no af.
I've been trying on and off for a year too, fingers crossed for us both. BTW I've know 4 people with pcos who've had successful pregnancies so take hope from this x
