Torn - advice please

Hi all,

I know everyone’s bodies and circumstances are different but I’m just looking for a bit of advice really.

I posted a few days ago about when the ‘right time’ is but for a bit of background, my partner and I are having the ‘talks’ about TTC DC#1. He already has an 8 year old DD, I have no children.

I’m currently torn between coming off the pill (Cerelle) now or after Christmas. I’ve been on the pill for 15 years and this mini pill completely stopped my periods, so I have no idea what my cycle is going to be like.

I’ve heard it takes months, sometimes years, to conceive but I am quite aware of my age (31) and don’t know what to do for the best.
I’d like to come off the pill now and give my body time to adjust but equally I don’t really want to fall pregnant until after Christmas.

I guess I’m looking for advice/other experiences of coming off the pill (specifically Cerelle/Cerazette) and how long it took to conceive. I’d come off tomorrow if I knew it would take a few months, but I don’t want to get myself 100% there and wait til after Xmas and then it takes months/years and I regret not coming off sooner. Equally I don’t want to fall pregnant tomorrow!

Anyone else had these thoughts before TTC or any advice?

I came off cerazette in November last year after 8 years being on it, I got pregnant in February but that ended up in a chemical pregnancy. (We wasn't actively "trying")

Since then nothing... I am in my 2 week wait now and hoping for the best outcome.

Honestly I would come off it sooner rather then later as it took around 3 months just for my periods to regulate properly, obviously it's different for everyone.
I am 23 and very healthy with no health conditions. Also when I had my chemical they checked my ovaries etc which were all fine just sadly one of those things.

No advice/experience with your situation or pill but could you maybe come off sooner rather than later to give your periods a chance to regulate and maybe use another form of protection ie condoms until christmas/you're ready to properly start trying?

I came off my pill July 2020 fell pregnant November 2020 unfortunately lead to mmc at 12.5 weeks, fell again march 2021 miscarried 6 weeks, been ttc for over a year now and still no luck even though fallen twice so you never know, my advice come off your pill to regulate your periods and get to know your body and cycle but if not ready to actively start trying use condoms for now. x

I came off cerazette last October and AF arrived 4.5 weeks later. Cycles went back to normal straight away and I didn't have periods at all when on cerazette. I've not had a sniff of a BFP since coming off the mini pill so I really regret not starting TTC a lot earlier..... I'm now 33.

You never know how long it's going to take to conceive, but you need to do what's right for you x

Honestly I would go off the pill now and use other forms of protection. Or maybe you can start with using ovulation kits and get to know your body before you're actively TTC, I wish I did. You can use the ovulation kits to prevent getting pregnant, so you'll use protection during the high fertility phase.

Come off it now!! I come off it 8th June and I’m messed up :( I was only on it January! I didn’t get a proper period until august 29th spotted literally weeks in between and I’m still waiting for my period from September! Been on and off for 3 weeks now not pregnant as done lots of tests 😢 I’m actually going to try and get a doctors appointment tomorrow as I think I have something wrong with me.
