I’ve never tracked bbt before I usually just use opk but according to those I haven’t ovulated for the past 4 months so I thought I’ve give this a go. I have no idea what I’m doing so I’m wanting to know when I’m supposed to take my temperature what it’s supposed to show ie rising, falling thanks in advance x

Start with the right thermometer. I have the Femometer one from Amazon! It's to two decimal places. :)

You take your temp at the same time every morning, as soon as you wake up. Before you even talk 🤣 then you can record it in an app and it will analyse it for you x

@Donthaveaclue1
When I take mine I do it vaginal as always got a better reading, take it same time every morning after a solid 3 hours sleep or more the day I ovulate I norm have a dip in temp and goes up next day not everyone hasa dip thou but down load fertility friend put your temp in and after 3 days of raised temp it will give you a crosshare for when ovulation was. Its a lot easier to work out as opk will only tell you when ur body gearing up to ovulate but might not and gear up again.

I have the Femometer app @xoJellyBean so I will order that one how will it show that I’ve ovulated though?

@Donthaveaclue1
Norm when you put your temp in to the app when it sees 3 steady days of high temps it will give you your crosshare.

@Donthaveaclue1 yes order the Femometer one, it's brill. I've attached my chart so you can see how it looks and how it works out your ovulation date

I use a Tempdrop and I love it. Expensive, but so worth the convenience of not having to wake up. I use the app Fertility Friend. It's ugly but effective.

Your temperature in your follicular phase is lower, on average, than in your luteal phase.

Ovulation is detected when you have three temperatures that are higher than your coverline. Your coverline is the average of the six temperatures pre-ovulation plus 0.1 degree (e.g. if the average temperature is 36 degrees, your coverline is 36.1 degrees, so after ovulation you're looking for three temperatures that are at least 36.1 degrees). The app you use should work this out automatically. When you ovulate your body releases progesterone, and that causes an increase in body temperature.

All temps do is confirm ovulation. A rise can be high, low, quick, or slow but all you need is a rise. I do medicated cycles, and even then my rise is typically low, but I've had my progesterone tested at 7dpo and it's fine. People try to read into them and look for patterns like implantation dips, but that's just an oestrogen surge in your LP. By the time you've had enough consistently high temps to indicate pregnancy, you will have had a positive pregnancy test.

I used my children’s temp reader for the last two days just to get a feel for it and my temp has been 36.8 for the past two days is that normal my app predicted ovulation today but the ovulation tests say different

What app? It's only coincidental if an app like Glow or Flo gets your ovulation right. Ignore them and go by your temp.

FWIW 36.8 is a post-ovulation temp for me, but YMMV.

You need a BBT thermometer which gives your temperature to two decimal places. One decimal place isn't enough to identify a pattern.

Donthaveaclue1 · 19/08/2021 10:40

I’ve ordered a Femometer one it’s coming tomorrow @kennetrose I use the Femometer app and the Premom app one predicted ovulation yesterday and one predicted today but the Ovulation tests are not positive

OP posts:
Donthaveaclue1 · 19/08/2021 10:41

The predictions are based on previous cycle data and length of my cycle

@Donthaveaclue1 Once your peak has been identified, the app will adjust your ovulation day and fertile window accordingly.
