Coming off depo and ovulation

Myself and my partner recently married and bought a house. We decided now is the time to start trying for a little one. I had been on depo shot for a while and last shot was January. I know it can take a while to wear off but I started with OPK and had a spike (if that’s what it’s referred to as), that was on 3rd august. Should I expect a period soon or do these spikes happen even when fertility hasn’t returned? Anyone had any similar experiences?

Took over a year for my periods to return after stopping the depot.

Did you ovulate before they returned?

No idea, didn’t test, just let nature take its course.
I was very surprised and not prepared for it to take so long but have read on this board of loads of women where over a year is the experience.
