Anyone know why I start spotting from 5DPO?
Always start my period 13DPO - so I spot for 8 days first..
GP is rubbish. Any thoughts?

Also going through this - not sure why, always spot from approx 5-7DPO until period. I have endometriosis so assume it's something to do with that but GP thinks it's hormonal.

Currently awaiting results of blood test & still need an ultrasound scan.

Did your GP say why they think that? Like low progesterone or something?
I'm on the waiting list to see a fertility specialist but it's taking so long... wish I knew the problem now! I also cramp from ovulation day right up to my period :(

I'm not sure why she thinks that, I think because it's so cyclical in that I'm not spotting all month but only after ovulation.

I'll keep you updated. Did your GP recommend any blood tests for you or anything?

Well I went to the GP as hubby is 40+ and we've been trying for awhile - he did pre and post O bloods to check I was ovulating and my prolactin levels were high pre O and progesterone levels were low post O.....
He didn't test because of my symptoms, just because it was taking ages to get pregnant!
He referred me to ARU about 6 months ago and I'm waiting still....
I feel as though he should have addressed the spotting more... I've had no questions answered and no referral for an ultrasound to test for PCO's or endo... nothing.
Are Gp's allowed to prescribe progesterone do you know? I'll be upset if it was as simple as that and I've had this crazy wait for a diagnosis when I could have been treated and pregnant by now.
Hard isn't it.

I've read low progesterone can cause early spotting. I have been started on progesterone as just found out in pregnant and a consultant advised it following repeated miscarriages. The gp I spoke to at my practice said it wasnt standard for them to prescribe this but as they had the letter they would.

It's like pulling teeth trying to get anything investigated for fertility by a GP. Good luck for the future!
