How to get periods back

Hi, I’m EBFing my 9 month baby and have not got periods back yet. Keen to try for second baby soon due to my age. Just wondered if anyone can tell me when their periods returned if they still fed regularly overnight, or what feeds they dropped to to get them back. Baby only has 2 feeds during the day but lots during the night. She wants plenty of solid food. Don’t want to stop breastfeeding but do want her to have a sibling. What do others do?? Thanks.

The night feeds might be your problem... I don't know why but from what I've read when you drop the night feeds a lot of women find their fertility returns. I also had a night feeder and I couldn't get my cycle back until I stopped bfing.

Also it took 4 months to get my cycle back although I know anything from 2 to 6 months is considered normal

The average is around 9-18 months if breastfeeding. Mine began to return 8 months and I was still doing many night feeds!! And also went back on the pill quickly afterwards. Ideally you need to go a couple of hours or more between feeds (and at night) for a woman to ovualte.

You might need to drop a night feed. That can trigger ovulation. It did with me.

I'm still bf my 16 month old and didn't specifically change anything about our feeds. I was on the pill with no periods from around 6 weeks PP until the end of Dec when my son was 9 months old. When I stopped the pill my period returned at the start of March, so he was 11 months old then. Hard to say what it would have been like if I wasn't on the pill! I'm still feeding DS anywhere from 1 to many feeds in the night 🙈 he has no day feeds anymore, but at about 11 months I think I was still feeding him morning, before naps and before bed as well as night time. I suspect its a bit different for everyone though!
