Did Metaformin regulate your cycles

Hi ladies
I was diagnosed with minor pcos back in Jan. Ive been on Metaformin since then..started taking 3 tablets about a month ago as 3 never suited me before and was only taking 2
My cycles were always weird..ranging from 30 to 50 ..after taking metaformin i thought it would fix but its still like that. (Picture attached with stat )
My question is for ladies who are on metaformin. Did your cycles regulate or were u in similar situation with not much improvement?

I use OPK sticks cd10 onwards so am able to track ovulation but have not been able to get bfp . Ive had blood tests to confirm ovulation aswell. Dh had his tests aswell which were ok.
This cycle im around cd 20 but no sign of ovulation yet. Last cycle i ovulated on cd14/15

@Iloveoreos I was diagnosed with PCOS and my cycles were regular enough 33/45 days long. I conceived naturally twice without any medication but unfortunately one ended in MMC at 8/9 weeks and the other at 5 weeks ( for the second preg I was taking myo inositol)

I went to see my consultant who then prescribed me 1000 mg metformin on top of myo inositol. I fell pregnant again quite quickly but that ended in another chemical... 💔. I have been taking metformin since March of this year and my cycles have become even more regular-reduced to 28/30 days. I was normal BMI before so weight was never an issue but lost 5kgs since taking metformin... so I am definitely insulin resistant that comes with PCOS. My DH's test results were not good so his test results + my PCOS could have been the reason for our losses...

Do you do BBTs as well? Might be useful to try to track ovulation and time dtd. Goodluck 🍀

Hi hun

Thanks for reply
Weight was never an issue for me either. Infact doctor and gp were both surprised I had pcos. My BMI is slightly underweight actually :( not sure if thats causing it.
How long did it take before your cycles became regular. For me it seems like when i started 1000mg they became regular for 1 or 2 cycle then long cycle again.then when i started 1500mg it instantly reduced to 28/30 day cycle but 2nd cyclw after that which is current one its gone back to long.

@Iloveoreos it didn't take much long for my cycles to get regular, only a month after taking it, the next month I conceived pretty quickly. Also I am trying to stay active by doing aerobics/ yoga and follow a low carb diet.

Although this cycle is a bit wobbly but that maybe due to getting the vaccine or stress, ovulation got delayed by 7 days... I would still give metformin a bit more time.

See below link to the myo inositol, it's 100% pure apparently www.myprotein.ie/sports-nutrition/100-inositol-powder/10530319.html?affil=thggpsad

How long u've been TTC?

Iloveoreos · 07/08/2021 12:48

Sorry to hear about ur chemical... hope it's not that long now before u will fall preg again. This TTC journey can be life consuming.. take it easy, although easier said than done. All you can do is try ur best, the rest none of us can control ...

Iloveoreos · 09/08/2021 09:23

@belle34 true

How long has it been for u hun

Belle34 · 09/08/2021 15:33

It's been almost 1.6 years with 3 losses 😭💔. .. although after our MMC last year in Jan 2020 we weren't really seriously trying or avoiding it either, didn't had a clue about BBT or OPKs. It's really this year I got a hang of it and fell in Jan and April/May 2021

We will be repeating DH's SA test later this month and if the results turn out to be bad then we would be looking at IVF as an option.. that's what our consultant advised us. Don't really want to do IVF but that maybe our only hope...

Where r u in ur cycle and how long have u been prescribed metformin for?
