I've responded to a few threads but am still very new to this so please forgive me if my acronym use is below par.

This is our first month TTC #1. I've always tracked my periods via Fitbit and my iPhone health app and have a 25day cycle however this is the first time I've tracked ovulation.

Start date of last AF 23rd July so Fitbit predicted my ovulation window to open Thursday 29th July with a peak on Tuesday 3rd. When I put my cycle into CBOPK it also suggested I start testing on 29th July.

On testing I only started seeing high fertility (flashing face) on Saturday 31st July with a peak (static face) this morning because of this 2/3day delay my Fitbit says it can't track my fertile window. I should add I felt ovulation symptoms (CM + pain in my left ovary yesterday afternoon but when I tested I only had the flashing face. Based on this I'm guessing I ovulated sometime between 3:30pm yesterday and 7:30am this morning.

DH and I have DTD once/twice a day since Thursday and again just now 😈. My questions are:

  • is this enough to give us the best chance of fertilisation? Or should we try again tonight?
I'm worried DH is shattered but I also want a BFP. Thoughts?
  • given my cycle AF would be due 15th August. When would you test for a BFP?

Baby dust to all reading xx

It's your first cycle, I wouldn't worry too much about really in depth tracking - you may not need it!

Sounds like you are doing more than enough. On our successful cycle DTD every other day all cycle worked for us. In fact twice a day may be a little much as I think I read that sperm quality can be poorer if DTD too often. Don't quote me on that though as I'm not an expert! It sounds like you've already covered all bases.

It's up to you when you want to test. Personally I just wanted to wait for late AF as lots of early testing is expensive and plays with emotions trying to spot faint lines. But then again I know that it suits lots of people better to POAS like crazy from very early. Everyone manages differently, it's up to you 😊

Wishing you luck!

Thank you for responding. I had heard about sperm count due to too much sex but we reasoned that given I wasn't sure if I'd see peak even if I ovulated so wanted to cover ground add to that we figured if DTD felt natural (no tiredness, discomfort etc) then hopefully our insides would also be okay.

Thank you for the testing advice- I think you are right will wait until 21st august as that's over a week after AF due date. Keeping everything crossed that she doesn't arrive and we get a BFP followed by a DC in 9 months.

@wannabeamummysobad
If it feels right then go for it 😊 may as well enjoy yourselves!! 😆

Sperm can live in the body for quite a few days so as long as you DTD in the couple of days around your possible peak you are in with a good chance! Would love to hear how you get on 😊
