How common are chemical pregnancies?

Hi All,

Just got a BFP at 13dpo - AF due tomorrow. We've been trying for 1 year, had a miscarriage at 12 weeks 9 months ago, 1 chemical pregnancy a few months ago, so I'm feeling very resignedly aware than a BFP does not necessarily equal baby.

I've been finding it impossible to find any information on how common Chemical's actually are after your missed period (tomorrow for me) and when, if ever, I should start to get me hopes up.

Anyone with any Chemical experiences they could share? My previous one was like this:

VVVVfaint line at 9dpo
slightly darker line 10 dpo
fainter line at 12dpo
BFN at 13 dpo
AF at 14 epo

This time round my BFP came on like this:
BFN at 9dpo
Blazing BFP at 10dpo
Darker BFP at 12 dpo

Could I be in with a chance?!?!?!?

Desperate here.

J x

That's a strong positive I think! I've no idea how common they are.

I had a chemical pregnancy after a round of IVF. My beta number was very low though so although I got a positive blood test result, the clinic said it would need to climb a heck of a lot. As it happens, I got AF two days later.

Good luck!

Hi Was wondering if yous could help me? Are these evap lines or faint lines? Last month I had a chemical pregnancy and feeling slightly worried again, not sure if these are BFP or BFN x

I would say that looks like a very strong positive!

I had a chemical last month cycle 2 of trying and currently 8dpo not going to test this time until I actually miss a period as I started on 9dp faint got darker by 11 then faded and was negative come 14 😫

I would be intrigued to know others experiences of chemicals as I'm hoping this is my month!

I've had 2 back to back chemicals in June / July. The first one was only ever a vvf positive at 11dpo and then subsequent faint positives until my period arrived a few days late.
My latest one went from 11dpo to 14dpo before I admited to myself it wasn't going to eventuate to anything.
I was applying progesterone cream twice a day to try and push back my period but once my period was a few days overdue (but the line was gone) I stopped applying and my period returned.
I'll attach a pic of my line progression...there isn't one!

So looking at yours I would say it looks really positive!!
Keep updating us please!

Hi sorry to hear about your mc’s. I have had 2 chemicals and because of that I test every 2 days until EPU will see me for a 6 week scan. Can’t advise that’s a good thing to do, but it’s the only thing that reassures me.
Are you under EPU? You could ask your doctor for a referral if not, they can do bloods to check your HCG is doubling x

I think your bfp if very strong:)

My chemical experience:

11 dpo - faint line
12 dpo - darker line
13dpo - same darkness
15dpo literally barely there plus spotting started
16dpo full period arrived

My CP a few months ago was;
11DPO - squinter
12DPO - clear BFP
14DPO - positive on a digital
16DPO - still positive (bottom test)
19DPO - sore boobs stopped
20DPO - started bleeding

My gp said if there is a chromosomal abnormality most pregnancy losses are early (pre-6 weeks) so just using lines isn't an indicator.

I don't mean that to sound negative, just that there are so many factors that influence a light or dark line that "progression" can be difficult to accurately measure.

I would just take any BFP on face value and enjoy it 😊 (which I totally know is next to impossible!!)
