Sertraline, ttc and cycle

Hello ladies,

I'm new here, hope it's oke to post a message to start.
Sorry for the long story!

I'm 35 years old and have a DD of 13 months. In April we decided to TTC for #2. I suffer from GAD and have used antidepressants in the past, but went of them about 5 years ago. The anxiety is always there, and in periods of stress it gets pretty severe.
When we decided to start trying again, my anxiety flared up big time. I was (and still am), so scared that it might not happen again. That my age might be a issue this time. It got to the point where everything was just to much, I was in a constant flight or fight mode and my thoughts got more negative as weeks went by. I tried to meditate, eat healty and exercise, but nothing worked. So I contacted my GP to see if I can get back at an antidepressants. Beforehand I looked up info on the "safest" antidepressants to take during conceiving and/or pregnancy. Sertraline (Zoloft), was told to have the most data on, and conciderd pretty safe. So my GP (in consulation with a psych) and I diceded to start with 25 mg.

I already feel so much better just 3 weeks in, my anxiety deministed by 75% already. I'm very pleased with that, but the one thing that I really don't like is that my period came 3 days early, never ever in my life have I been early. Then I Googled, and it turns out a lot of woman have messed up periods on this drug. It seems to highten your prolactine levels. I've read that it can even itself out over the next couple of weeks, but I have also read woman who did not have a normal cycle on this drug for as long as they used them.

Anyone experienced this on Sertraline? Did it even out? Did you got pregnant whilst on this drug?
Otherwise I might have to concider changing to the antidepressants i used 5 years ago..
Just so ironic, that i'm scared it won't work, and than my antidepressants starts messing up my cycle....Hmm

I've gotten pregnant twice on sertraline - no issues not particularly ever noticed any problems with cycle either. Have you had your vaccine recently as that seems to be (temporarily) affecting people's cycles?

PeanuttyButter · 04/08/2021 20:24

I had regular periods on sertraline to the day usually.

I am on Sertraline and my periods are like clockwork - apart from my first vaccination which made both ovulation and my period later than usual.

I'm on 50mg of sertraline. I've never really had any huge issues with my cycle but they do fluctuate anywhere from 23-28 days, which I think is still deemed regular?

I'm 32 and currently TTC #1. I've been trying for 10 months and 12 cycles and literally feels like everyone I've ever know is announcing their pregnancy.

I don't know if Sertraline has anything to do with it, I don't even know if I should be worried at this point as we have had a few more relaxed months trying to conceive.

I honestly feel like I will never see a positive pregnancy test Sad

I have taken 200mg of Sertraline for years, my periods have been regular and I conceived whilst taking this dose x currently 5+5 so still early days but I couldn't be happier ❤️!
I hope everyone on this thread gets their BFP ❤️🤞🏻

Good one on the vaccine, but I haven't had mine yet.

Sorry to hear you haven't had any luck getting pregnant. I've read that most couples (85%) get pregnant AFTER 12 months. But the waiting and the uncertainty is killing sometimes.

Best of luck!

I'm not on Sertraline but I am on Venlaflaxine (300mg)- I'm now reducing my dose so we can TTC but it has completely messed up my cycle, I have had 2 70 day cycles since starting this dose!
