Ovusense Ovulation Help!

Hi All,

Just some background... I've been TTC for 6 years now with PCOS and a progesterone deficiency. I've been taking Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Omega 3 and Myo-Inositol.

I recently invested in Ovusense as I was told it was the best for confirming ovulation if you have PCOS. As it measures your CBT, linked to your progesterone, I thought it'd be perfect.

First cycle using it, it confirmed ovulation and then my temperature flatlined and AF showed 9 days later. In line with my progesterone deficiency. Perfect. Well, not perfect as another month of no successful TTC but I'll take it as evidence it works.

Fast forward a month to Ovusense round 2. Ovulation confirmed on day 15 but minimal temp rise. I also log on femometer which changed my ovulation date to day 18. TWW has been horrific and now I've come to the end of it, Fertility friend has moved my O date to day 28! Ovusense is still adamant that my O day was 15.

I'm so confused by all of this, I've no idea when I ovulated and if Ovusense is giving me wrong dates I'd rather stop using it so I stop getting my hopes up.

Any ideas or help would be welcomed :(

Could you post your graph?

I use OvuSense and it was very helpful for me because it identified that I wasn't ovulating regularly. I started taking inositol and now I am.

BUT I'm not convinced about their claims about their algorithm. Their Facebook group isn't very helpful either. I use to download my temps alongside fertility friend and opks to identify ovulation.

I know you didnt ask this OP, but are you receiving any help with conception given you have been trying so long?

I have to say your FF graph looks a touch more convincing on CD26 than CD15 does

I was under a fertility clinic for 4 years but they didn't want to do anything to help. I was always told that I need to lower my BMI but unfortunately for me I'm a curvy hourglass shape and I just can't get it any lower than it is (without being unhealthy!).

I managed to get progesterone tests done through my GP which confirmed I'm not producing enough progesterone but that's where it stopped. I've been fighting with them for 15 years to try and sort my cycles...

I have a hospital appointment in a couple of weeks so I'm going to try and push them to find out why I have this deficiency. I know that NHS guidelines say they can't offer me Clomid, but surely they can offer me fake progesterone?

Honestly lovely, you need to go to more intensive treatment. Lose the weight (your BMI only need to be under 30) and get some help. I've been where you are and I tried everything and it nearly broke me. Ivf and now I have my little one.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/08/2021 20:37

Theres two issues going on in your cycles. 1) you're not always ovulating, certainly not at the same times and 2) progesterone response isnt strong afterwards. Number 1 will get in the way of conceiving and 2 gets in the way of staying pregnant. Can I ask why they wont try clomid? Is this BMI related?

Nickwinkle · 01/08/2021 20:52

I've managed to lose over 3 stone in the last year and a half Halo. Still trying to get it lower... Sad. It's BMI related. It's frustrating as I'm really not a big girl. Just a rather large upper shelf Grin hahahaha.

I used Ovusense last month too and it said I ovulated 3 days after me staring it. I'm not convinced based on my temps after it, and AF came 9 days later. Saying that - if it is right - this month is looking a little more promising.

@TheDaydreamBelievers congrats on your little one. What was your secret to getting there?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 01/08/2021 21:09

I think you mean @October2020 - I've not been lucky in conceiving x

October2020 · 01/08/2021 21:45

My secret was ivf. Seriously, I took every supplement and tried every possible intervention but in the end we just needed to do IVF. I wish I'd stopped messing around with everything else and got on with it earlier.

Nickwinkle · 02/08/2021 09:08

@TheDaydreamBelievers - sorry!!

@October2020 - Sorry to ask but did they ever find out what was causing your infertility? I'm worried even with IVF I wouldn't be successful as my body wouldn't be able to hold on to it. I've been the same... feel like a right drug addict every morning haha.

Guess I better get myself back on the shakes and back to the gym! Sad Just hoping what I've done already is enough to drop me below that 30 mark!

There were various things for me, PCOS, endo, low progesterone, womb abnormality - but what impressed me about IVF is that they basically just take control of your body. They give you drugs to turn all your hormones off, then stimulating drugs to produce eggs at the exact rate and size they want, then a drug to trigger ovulation at the exact right time so they can definitely harvest the eggs... then when they put it back in, you take progesterone pessaries until baby is very well stuck. So there is no more 'my body doesn't do this very well' because they're giving you medication to do it for you. It's obviously not a guarantee, but we were very reassured by a nurse telling us that they tweak the process if you aren't successful because they can see what worked and what didn't. E.g. not enough eggs, more stims... or whatever. It's a very intensive, invasive process but we honestly really enjoyed it - after years of supplements and Brazil nuts and blueberries and putting things up my foof to monitor ovulation and not standing near the microwave etc etc etc etc etc, to do something that actually was concretely making a difference felt amazing. And then we were very blessed with a first round success.

Nickwinkle · 02/08/2021 09:58

Wow! I didn't think it was quite that thorough. Amazing that it worked out for you. Must admit, 'sticking things up my foof' did make me chuckle as that's exactly what I'm doing at present. It's quite amazing what they can do.

You've certainly given me the motivation I need to get myself sorted. Thanks! I just need to lose another 10-15kg and I should be about right... D:
