Freezing your eggs while you try to conceive naturally

Hello!
So I'm considering IVF (40 years old AMH 4.9) but would still like to try for a few more months, say till 2022, to conceive naturally.

I've had the idea to freeze my eggs now and have them as back up if the natural route doesn't work...or to provide a future sibling if we do conceive naturally. That would mean I could potentially use a frozen egg for the next baby at around age 42-43.

Has anyone done similar? Am I mad to think of this scenario?

I think you are a bit mad. Egg freezing at your age doesn’t have high levels of success - it’s less about AMH and more about egg quality being low. It would make more sense for you to do a full cycle of IVF and freeze the embryos if you want to store something for the future. I am a little doubtful that a few months would make a difference at your age but wishing you all the best with conception.

Good point @dreamersdown , I've just googled a bit more about this and it does seem like the better option.
Adding scientific intervention adds a whole other layer of complexity to this TTC process 🤯

I'm going to reach out to the clinic and ask about this option today
