Ovulation & progesterone levels

Hi all,

I'm feeling so disheartened.
I've had 4 months of the 'day 21' fertility blood tests, to see what my progesterone levels are.
One of the months my period arrived 9 days early, so I clearly wasn't ovulating when I had the test.

The other 3 results have all been 'less than 1 nanomol per litre' around the time I should be ovulating/a week or so before my period is due.

What is going on with my body 😞 I'm waiting to see the infertility doctor to see what's happening, but I'm just so frustrated and down hearted about it all.

My partner and I have been trying actively for the past 2 years, and haven't used protection at all for the almost 5 years we've been together. I've missed carried once in early pregnancy (before 12 weeks).

Anyone else been through similar or can help me from being too upset? X

Are these tests ordered by your GP?

How are you tracking ovulation?

The day 21 tests have to be done at the right time. They should be done in the middle of your LP. For some people that's 7dpo but for others it can be less. When you get to the fertility clinic, they will probably ask you to do the test at different times to catch a peak.

A regular period is a good sign - it means you probably are ovulating most of the time. But if it turns out you aren't, they can give you medication to induce ovulation.

@kennetrose they were ordered by my gp yes. And we've wiggles the dates around and tried different times and still, nothing.
Even if I had ovulated and hadn't got pregnant, they should be higher than they are.

It's just so frustrating. And the wait every month to see what happens or do more tests is killing me. I'm not exactly a spring chicken 😂

are you detecting ovulation with OPKs or BBT? Could you have PCOS? Read about LUFS - it's really rare but maybe worth asking the clinic about when you get there.

Yeah TTC is a brutal waiting game. But if you've been referred to the fertility clinic and you're not ovulating, they'll give you Clomid or letrozole.

@kennetrose both. I must admit, sometimes I forget to take my temp as soon as my eyes open. The ovulation sticks, it never seems to go darker than the test line although it does vary in terms of faintness lol

I've never been diagnosed with PCOS, so I'm unsure. I've always had odd periods, they used to fluctuate loads when I was in my 20s, and it was put down to being on and off different birth control. I haven't been on any contraceptives now for around.. 6 years and my periods are pretty regular but long cycles, heavy 2 day periods and that's it.

I guess I need to learn to be patient, it's not one of my strengths lol
