p.s. thanks for all the lovely kind messages about my driving test! I have rebooked it for later in the month and am trying to stay positive

kate2179 · 06/01/2008 22:31

Hello ladies, please may call upon the collective wisdom of this thread... Have posted request on ttc board as well..
Am currently CD28, cycle 2 since mmc Oct 07 and I have a smear test booked on 14th jan (lucky me !!) which will be CD36 so was going to test then just in case cos I'm guessing you shouldn't have a smear if you might be pregnant? Any advice on this would be very welcome!!!!
But have been on fertility friend since Kasha mentioned it the other day (thank you Kasha!) I thought I hadn't OV'd this month but it reckons I might have done on CD25!!!! Am so ! Don't really think I did though... Which would mean not testing til 21st / 22nd Jan, CD43 - 44
So now I don't know what to do!
Advice please ladies?????

OracleInaCoracle · 07/01/2008 08:46

i wouldprobably ring your nurse and explain the situation to her. i would definatelytest tho, just toease your mind!

ClairePO · 07/01/2008 09:43

Kate when you start charting with FF for the first two months it gives you a test date that is 18 days after you ovulate, until it learns your usual LP length. So that is why the test date is far away. As to why you have a later ov date, what info is it based on, just temps? Or OPKs/cervical mucus too?

makecakesnotwar · 07/01/2008 17:58

Hello all, and congrats Kasha- just wanted to pop my head round to see how everyone is doing. Am hoping praying and rubbing bump for this to be your year.

kate2179 · 07/01/2008 22:19

Hi Claire, thank you for your messages, here and on the ttc thread. FF said it was saying 18DPO due to not knowing my cycle. The OV date is just based on temps, haven't noticed any EWCM. But then have been doing quite a lot of bd'ing which I think makes it harder to spot I'm not surprised I ov'd late - if I did - as erpc was only 3rd nov, so frankly I'm pleased if I ov'd at all... Did notice EWCM last cycle though... I guess only time will tell!

Thanks lissie, I will try to phone the nurse, although the nurses can be pretty vicious at my practice! If I can't speak to someone I think I'll just cancel it and go to a walk in clinic early in my next cycle. Am scared to test too early, really don't want a bfn, would much rather just have af - I seem to see af as a new start rather than as a missed pg, long may that attitude continue...
Thank you for all your support over these last couple of months ladies, I don't know what I would have done without all the MNutters!

scully · 08/01/2008 06:45

Hi, I post on here occassionally but do lurk often I had a miscarriage in Aug 07, at 12wks. I definitely wasn't ready to conceive again, even though I wanted to be pregnant. AF arrived in Sep, Nov and Dec, so I finally feel like my hormones and cycle are back to normal and Dec was the first time I felt ready to try again. Being 37, I'm a bit paranoid about not being too old to have another one, (partly because my mum died when she was 51 etc etc).
You do take it for granted when you have had straightforward pregnancies previously, my 2 dd's arrived with no problems so I was floored when the m/c occured and the emotional rollercoaster that has followed.
Good luck everyone

Lilypink · 08/01/2008 08:36

Morning girls, hope all is well Kasha?

I would def test before smear just incase - you never know!

Does anyone know about Luteal phase defect and spotting before AF? I am wondering if I have a short LP as I start spotting 6 days after ovulation - does that mean I do not get the required 10 days. Does anyone know about taking B6 ( I think its vitamin B6 maybe wrong) to increase LP?

Thank you x

KashaSarrasin · 08/01/2008 09:49

Hi everyone

kate no idea about the smear stuff - I was overdue for one when pg with DS, my (French) doctor told me that it's normally OK to have one while pg as long as you're not bleeding (which I was), not sure what the UK line on that is though.

scully hello and good luck ttc!

I just saw my GP, asked to see a different one this time after the farce of trying to get a gyne referral from the doc I saw after my ERPC. He was reasonably helpful and reassuring, and has referred me for a scan at the end of next week, when hopefully (if I get that far!) I should be about 7 weeks. I'm still spotting, but also increasingly nauseous, which I'm hoping is a good sign. My main problem at the moment is that I just cannot concentrate on work at all, not good as I have a big deadline on the 31st...

sfxmum · 08/01/2008 10:49

hello all

scully I have similar feelings, regarding time and age, had dd when I was 36, same age my mum had me, and she died when I turned 15.
can't let it weigh to much but inevitably it plays on your mind.

my 1st AF post miscarriage is now over and done with, so I am bracing myself for the ovulation timemust resist because as much as I want to be pregnant I am not yet ready.

hope you all have a nice day, will try and catch up with thread now

ClairePO · 08/01/2008 10:53

Morning all, just a hello to all of you and hope you are all OK.

Welcome Scully, glad you feel strong to start trying again now and good luck.

cricri · 08/01/2008 14:05

Hello everybody,
Just been catching up with all the posts.
Congratulations Kasha, wonderful news
Great news about your scan Lcy, it must have been a huge relief to see a heartbeat. Hope you can relax a little now although I'm sure that's easier said than done...
Aquababe how are you doing today?
Scully good luck with ttc. Having a mc has changed everything for me - I got pg really easily after coming off the Pill and thought it was all so easy... I now realise it's not quite as straightforward as that once you get BFP, and like you I feel time is ticking away
Hope everybody else is OK.
Just had my first session of acupuncture at lunchtime to help with ttc and now feel terribly sleepy. Not good as I have work to do this afternoon!

ronshar · 08/01/2008 14:53

Fantastic news Kasha. Fingers crossed for you it all works out great.
Lcy also brilliant news about your scan results. It is so hard when you go for scans because you want to know it is all ok but dread the potential bad news.
I remember somebody wrote here ages ago that they feel they have lost the innocence of early pregnancy because of MC.

TwilightSurfer · 08/01/2008 17:12

Hello ladies. Wishing all of you the very best. As a recent graduate I just wanted to let you know IT CAN BE DONE!!! Just two months ago I began miscarrying at 8+3.....today I'm 8+3 with a brand new pregnancy. It's amazing. I'm thrilled and scared all at once. I had my first official pregnancy visit yesterday and all looked wonderful. I have a picture from the visit in my profile. Can't believe things are so different this time. Just don't give up.

Emmsy1 · 08/01/2008 21:52

Hi girls, just popping in to wish you all a happy new year!
Congratulations to Kasha, hope all goes well for you and your bean!
Lcy,really made up your bean is fine,I hope you can now enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!
Aqua, I know how you are feeling, I would have been due on the 29th December if I didnt M/C, I had a little cry for my bean on that day, I didn't think I would, thought I was over that M/C but just couldn't help it. I Just can't wait for the day when the line on the pee stick gives me another + I feeling really excited just thinking about it! take care hun xx

Verso · 08/01/2008 22:03

Just a quick msg to say all went v well with the consultant this morning. I am now on low-dose aspirin as there is nothing in particular wrong with me to have caused the 2 m/cs - but he said it might help. Was hoping for some real answers, so a bit of a mixed bag emotions-wise today, but am glad of course to have a clean bill of health.

I also did one of those Fertell tests today too and that came out A-OK, so looks like things are all systems go for ttc again - if I can get my head round it...

Sorry, yet another totally 'me' post, but I hope you'll understand!

He Verso, can I ask if you had your tests done privatley? If so what happened - e.g. how many appointments and type of tests? Also no need to anser if you don't want to as this is incredibly nosey but how much did it all cost?

I have a private appointment this month and have been told its £160 plus the cost of tests and then £70 for a follow up appointment.

If you went thro NHS how did you manage that - I have to wait for 3 m/c

Thanks!

sfxmum · 09/01/2008 09:53

good morning all

verso glad tests went well, it is a relief, I never have tested but perhaps I should really

it is lovely to hear from those who are currently pregnant and doing well.

I hope those of us ttc achieve it this year

am optimistic this morning

but yesterday we went to visit a nursery for dd to attend part time from when she is 3 in the summer and I felt odd and quite sad as in my vision/ plan we would have another child by then.

TJuice · 09/01/2008 11:46

ronshar! how are you lady?

aquababe · 09/01/2008 11:52

Hey cricri thanks for asking
been trying to research fibroids, but without knowing how big and where it is I can't seem to find any solid answers.
I keep thinking so how bad could it be and just coz I try to get pregnant doesn't mean i will.
It's like being told not to press the big red button.

Verso Is the fertell test one of those over the counter things?
It would be so good if they'd run tests after 2mcs. My friend was telling me that in new zealand they consider 2 to be recurrent.

ronshar · 09/01/2008 12:46

Hey Tjuice, I am ok. Not great but not sad. It was exactly a year from my first BFP which MC'd. I realised that I wasnt totally over the ordeal but I am really surprised with how sad I feel.
I know that for a few of us who MC'd in March this will be a hard couple of weeks as it has been a year since the ordeal began. Also some of us are incredibly lucky and are now happily pregnant but there are also some of us who are still desparetely trying!

How was your christmas and how is that little bean of yours. I hope you had an event free holiday?

Jules how are you? Has all your bleeding stopped??

Verso · 09/01/2008 13:18

Fertell is an over the counter thing, £24.99 from Boots.

My tests were all done on the NHS because I luckily happen to be in Mr Shehata's catchment area (moved house just a few months ago so this is pure fluke) - he is a consultant with a particular interest in recurrent m/c and likes to see patients after their second m/c.

The usual policy on the NHS is to wait until you have had three m/cs before initiating any investigations (That was the case at Kings, where I had my last one.) so I was really lucky this time, in a way.

Justjules - he told me to start taking low dose aspirin straight away. You have worried me now

TJuice · 09/01/2008 14:33

ronshar - it must be a strange and emotional time. i am still astounded at how much the mc affected me. i cried about it the night before last. of course i am really happy about being pregnant now but losing that one properly broke my heart. anyway, hope you can get some time to think and treat/comfort yourself.

my xmas was well chilled - what about yours? any dramas/scandals?

also have you heard from popsy?

i was also thinking about katend recently? i miss her warm and positive posts . . .

ronshar · 09/01/2008 15:35

Yes I wonder if she is lurking around here somewhere. I understand why she had to go but it would be lovely to hear from her.

No real drama for Christmas. It was brilliant.

Popsy has just got back from snowboarding, I am not talking to her as I am very. I am off myself soon but no where near as glam as Popsy.
