CD59 Faint positives or False positives!!

Eabx · 17/07/2021 10:07

Hi, I usually have 24 day cycles, now I am on CD 59! I have taken lots of tests over the past few weeks all negative, but a few days ago I done a Sainsbury’s own test and a faint positive came up, but then when I looked online they are notorious for false positives! I did a CB early detection and this was negative. Yesterday I done another clear blue early detection and got a vvv faint line, but I know these can give these. I done the other CB ED with fmu and got a faint line (pic), so done the early detection digital that was in the patch and it says not pregnant! I don’t know what to think! X

On CD 47 I thought my period was starting as I had a tiny touch of pink when I wiped, but then nothing else. I then had a tiny amount of brown discharge when I wiped each day from CD 53 to CD57! My GO checked for early menopause last week and said all my hormone levels are fine, she didn’t do a HCA test as she said they don’t do them. But said if I have one sided pain or shoulder pain to go and get checked out!

I am 42, I have 3 beautiful daughters and We lost a baby boy in my second trimester in 2016. We have tried unsuccessfully since then for another but recently decided to stop trying as our eldest daughter is now expecting xx

Any advice would be great, thanks x

They do look like positives, could you get a FRER?

Eabx · 17/07/2021 10:22

Are you able to get a blood test done through doctors to double check? I’m on day CD41 of a usual 31 day cycle, so have similar frustration! Hope you get your bfp soon 🤞🏻

Eabx · 19/07/2021 00:01

Our GP won’t do HCG blood tests x it’s so frustrating isn’t it, I’d rather af arrive than go through this x

I’ll be finding out shortly what our gp will do, but probably in the same boat. Couldn’t agree more, just want to start a new cycle and have done with it. Hope you’re ok @Eabx x

Josephine2021 · 19/07/2021 07:51

I can’t seem to be able to add images yet, but will share mine when I can.

KineticSand · 19/07/2021 08:08

I'm in a really similar situation.

I'm on cycle day 42 of what is usually a 26 day cycle. I've the last couple of weeks I've had 5 negative tests (clear blue, supermarket own, FRER) and one faint positive FRER in the middle.

Really confused!

Josephine2021 · 19/07/2021 09:03

Sorry to hear you’re in the same boat too @KineticSand! It’s just so strange isn’t it?!
What day did you get you positive?

Well, spoke to our surgery this morning, they don’t do blood tests, they just go by the test results. I’ve to leave it another week, as can take up to three to show on home tests apparently. I guess it depends on when I ovulated to how far on I’d be?

So frustrating!

KineticSand · 19/07/2021 10:56

The faint positive on a FRER was last week and then neg on FRER the next morning, so weird.

Josephine2021 · 19/07/2021 13:48

I wonder if it’s a hormone fluctuation? It’s so hard not knowing, and trying not to get excited just in case.

KineticSand · 19/07/2021 19:41

Hope everyone gets the answers they are hoping for

Eabx · 21/07/2021 17:13

Still negative tests for me and no af.. xx

Hi @Eabx thanks for sharing your update, sorry you haven’t had your bfp yet.💐
I did a test again this morning and nothing either, plus no sign of af… would like to hope I’m not out yet, but surely it would be a blazing line by now?? Xx

Josephine2021 · 21/07/2021 18:43

@KineticSand have you had any joy?xx

Eabx · 21/07/2021 20:53

There are a few websites you can purchase a hcg test from. I know some people don’t get positives on over the counter tests so I’d be tempted to try one of those.

@Josephine2021I have daughters, but we lost a baby boy in my second trimester in 2016 and have been trying for another baby since. I never previously had any issues getting pregnant or with my periods, but I was prescribed clomid after our loss as it took us a while to conceive him, but never got caught. We have kind of given up now as our eldest daughter is now pregnant and she is only 19 so will need lots of support. I’ve never really had a problem with my periods, I had one long cycle about a year ago of about 42 days I think and then my cycle is usually 24 days xx have you been trying long x

OP posts:
Josephine2021 · 21/07/2021 21:39

@Eabx I’m so sorry for your loss, can’t imagine how hard that must have been for you. 💐
Do they do any investigation before prescribing clomid? Or is that the kind of first step in trying to help aide conception?

We’ve not actively been ‘trying’ that long, but I haven’t been on contraceptive since having our DD in 2019. Would have expected something within the last 12 months or so as been more active, but nothing. Really wanting a little sibling, starting to worry something is wrong. Really thought this month was our time xx

Josephine2021 · 21/07/2021 21:40

Sorry, wrong button!
Wow, congratulations to her, how is your daughter coping with the pregnancy so far? Hope she’s getting on ok, these must be worrying times whilst expecting for the first time.

Eabx · 21/07/2021 22:05

I never had any investigations done, I was just referred by my GP to the Hewitt Centre as it took us a while to conceive the baby we lost, and he took my history and said he was happy for me try clomid. We paid for the consultation, but only had the one. Have you spoken with your GP about possibly doing any testing? Xx

My daughters coping well, she is 27 weeks now so starting to get tired. She was really unwell for the first few months and has had to pause her university course, but she is looking forward to being a mummy xx

Ah so was that a private appointment? I’m waiting until Monday, then will call gp to see if they can advise next steps. Weirdly, when we fell on with my little girl I wasn’t actually having periods at all (had a dose of depot injection in 2013, didn’t have periods until after I’d had her in 2019). So was only just getting a scan to see what was happening through doctor, and discovered we were 6 weeks pregnant!
Since my periods returned they’ve been like clockwork, so it’s just really odd to have 16 days late now. Makes me worry something isn’t right.

I’m so pleased she’s doing well, it’s lovely she’s excited about being a mummy, it’s how it should be :) I loved all the excitement through our pregnancy. Can’t wait to hopefully do it all again xx
