Hi all,

About 6 months in to ttc.. I have been tracking with opks only. We dtd around the time of ovulation but not loads leading up to it. Work usually gets in the way..

I've been taking folic acid, vitamin d, coq10, fish oil and originally pregnacare but stopped taking as messed up cycle for a little bit.

Just wondering really if there are stories of anyone who did what they were supposed to do like me but it only happened when you stopped worrying about it?

I haven't been taking my vitamins religiously the last month or two and didn't really track this month other than one opk test Tuesday (and was a high reading) we dtd the this morning. Hopefully not too late - I felt ovulation pain yesterday evening)

Anyone else stop obsessing a little over vitamins and tracking and it happen for them eventually?
It's more disappointing every month when you are so aware I think 🤔

Completely agree it's disappointing when one tries so hard and it doesn't happen. I'm on cycle # 11 so know exactly how you feel. I've given OPKs a miss a couple of times over the 11 cycles and tried to be more chilled about it, but still didn't work ☹️

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice but would love to hear everyone else's, as I'm in the same boat as you! Really hope you get your BFP soon - TTC is mentally hard work! X

I had been trying for 5 years. Finally went for investigations but had pretty much given up and was planning my child free life. The night before I was due to have hysteroscopy (not sure of spelling, basically op to check tubes) I did a pregnancy test as instructed by hospital. It was positive and I nearly fucking lost my life. Made husband go to chemist, took 5 more. All positive. She's 4 now.
Then, while still breastfeeding her I accidentally got pregnant with her brother! He's 3. ....

I'm 7 months in. I gave up opks 3 months ago and no longer track my cycles as DH asked me delete the app because I was obsessive about it. Ive quit the vitamins now and just taking folic acid.
I had my day 21 bloods last week and I'm definitely ovulating. DH won't go for his sperm analysis yet as he thinks we just need more time.
It's frustrating seeing everyone around me appear to get pregnant really fast and we're still waiting for a bfp.

Oh advice wise there were three things different that month I got pregnant with my first. I had lost a lot of weight, I had started to give up and began planning child free living, and after sex every single time I lay with legs up against wall, bum on pillow for as long as I could. One of those obviously worked.

pinkponkpunk · 15/07/2021 17:17

i tried for 6 years with my ex, nothing. Fell pregnant with my DH within 3 months.

Bigpinkslippers · 15/07/2021 17:33

Took about 7 months with both ds1 &2. Got pregnant both times same month I had reflexology. Pure coincidence probably but love a good foot massage so it was win win

Took seven months to conceive my first. The month we had just decided to put trying on hold. Literally did it once during fertile window and I was pregnant. All the other months we had been properly trying and nothing happened.

unicornpower · 16/07/2021 10:11

Took us 9 months to conceive and then we sadly had a miscarriage and it took a further 5 months to conceive and am 30 weeks now. I stopped the OPKs about 2 months after the loss as i was just miserable and obsessed with being pregnant, We both took the pregnacare vitamins and the month we conceived (after the loss) i had acupuncture but the jury is out as to whether that actually helped!

It is really Cliche but we conceived just after Christmas and i had honestly got to the point where I had thrown all my toys out of the pram, decided i had given up and didn't care anymore and i drank so much more than i usually did (not advocating this haha) I know how hard it is when other people just seem to blink and get pregnant and you are struggling with it, just try and stay positive and not overthink it.

@Faeliv I understand your feelings completely! I took 8 months to conceive and I had a missed miscarriage in that pregnancy. I then took another 8 months of trying to conceive my now daughter. It feels like forever at the time but remember, as statistics go, your overwhelmingly likely to be having a dry January now!

eccecc · 16/07/2021 15:50

My first was unplanned.
TTC #2 since December 2020. Cycle 9 as of today.

2020mission · 16/07/2021 19:49

Yeah @Faeliv it took me 16 months. I purposely eased off the month I conceived... I had accepted it wasn't going to happen and it was a mix of thinking we won't really try like usual this month since it would lead to the least desirable Christmas due date and our fertility clinic appointment was imminent anyway!

I did still track BBT as routine and we had sex every other day but more because we were in the mood rather than the for trying to hit the most optimal days.

One other thing that changed that cycle (other than likely less stress from trying) was I stopped drinking the grapefruit juice I'd usually drink for a week on approach to ovulation to encourage EWCM. I was always spotting every cycle on the few days running up to AF - I read this could be due to excess estrogen, so I made the decision to stop the grapefruit juice as it both increases estrogen and also just tastes awful 😅 I took my usual vitamins out of routine (the seven seas trying for a baby) but had been on those for over 6 months so nothing changed there.

It took me three years to conceive. We did all the fertility tests and everything was fine, just unexplained infertility. I sadly lost the baby at 13weeks due to a heart defect. TTC again and it’s even harder to not think about it. But when I did get pregnant the only things I did differently were acupuncture and I stopped exercising as much so put on a tiny bit of weight. We also conceived just before Christmas and I think we were really relaxed over the holidays

CPDubs · 16/07/2021 20:46

What OPK’s are you using @Faeliv? I wanted to get pregnant fast and read that Clearblue Advanced Ovulation Digitals were good. The month I fell I ovulated 4 days later than normal and wouldn’t have known!
