I’m new here and have been reading a lot of existing threads but can’t find anyone that seems to be in a similar position. I’m 34 (on Friday!) and came off the mini pill 5 weeks ago, after about 3 years on it. I’ve had no withdrawal bleed and no period. I’ve been using ovulation tests as I believe I could still ovulate without a period, but the results are always zero - not even low, actually zero. Should I just be more patient? At what point should I consider talking to my doctor for tests if it carries on this way? Would appreciate any advice, thank you.

Hi there, it might just pay to give it a few more months and let your body readjust after the pill. My understanding is that it's totally normal for it to take up to 3 months for cycles to resume after the pill, and even longer in some cases. For me, it took over 5 months to first get a period after coming off the pill and my second one was 6 weeks after that! On the other hand, I have friends who conceived within a month of stopping the pill :) Every body is different, maybe just give yours a bit of time for now.

Thank you, that’s really helpful to know it took you 5 months (that must have been hell!) Everything I have read so far said 2-4 weeks and along with the zero ovulation test I was worried. I’ve got lots of other symptoms from coming off the pill so I think I just need to give it time like you said.

It took me 45 days after spotting Cerazette to have any sort of withdrawal bleed, after being on it for approx 4 years. It'll come, just give it time - know it's horrible waiting though. x

Stopping Cerazette, NOT spotting *Freudian slip 🥴

It took 2 months for me to get my first period after coming off the mini pill in Jan, and then my next cycle was 43 days. Definitely takes a while to get back to normal!! My cycles still aren't right. And this time I was only on it from April 2020 to start of Jan!

It took 8 months for me to get my period after the pill (and a further 4 months for it to be regular). I went to the GP after 6 months and they said they couldn’t do anything until it had been 9 months (by which time I had my period).
I know it’s frustrating but it will turn up, usually when you are least expecting it!

Personally I wouldn’t bother with ovulation sticks until you get your period, just DTD regularly and hope for the best. If you end up taking 8 months like I did that is a lot of ovulation sticks!
