I guess the title says it all but after some recent events in our personal lives we have decided to stop using contraception at some point in the next 6 months. I'm trying to get some elements of our lives together between now and the n and wonder what I might be missing before we ttc.
How did you prepare for ttc / when you found out you were pregnant (other than buying the baby stuff and taking the pre-nat vits)?

I've cut back on caffeine- down to 1-2 proper cups of tea a day and the rest decaf . Decaf coffee at costa as a treat and if I'm drinking fizzy to drink 7up free.
Tbh I mainly didn't want to get pregnant and then deal with caffeine withdrawal- I used to drink a lot of coffee. Prenatal's of course and I don't drink alcohol anyway so easy there :)

Same as @Teaandcrumpets95 - cut out caffeine and cut down on alcohol. And started charting body temp etc but that was because I was in a hurry 😂

First time-not much prep and everything was fine. Second time I got teeth cleaned and checked, pre-emotive blood test , stacked some freezer meals so I didn't have to cook in the first queasy months, focused on Pilates and spent a lot of time lying on my tummy because I knew it would feel like ages til I could do it again.

Pre emptive- not emotive

It took me years to get pregnant so I'm very much in the 'drink until it's pink' camp. Don't change your life dramatically if you don't have to.

One thing I would say though is to start saving now. That's the one thing I'm so glad we did. We saved hard and after 2.5 years our 'new baby fund' became our 'IVF fund' and when nature over took us it became our 'second baby fund' and when that was easier to do than number one it became our 'house renovation fund'

Thanks everyone! Super helpful. 😁
I dont drink excessively and sometimes not at all so I dont think that'll be an issue. Not sure about the caffeine but I mostly drink camomile tea and decaf coffee anyway.
Did you spend much on mat leave? I get 3 months full, 6months 50%, and 3 weeks smp, but can have a year off. We are looking to buy a house on the next few months so wondering how to balance that.
Also I have heard that taking prenatal vitamins for too long can be bad for you. Is that right? We had a chemical pregnancy recently so I'm already taking these but wondering if I should stop and restart them? 😬
I track my temp anyway as I started using a contraceptive app this year since I cant take most other contraceptives (and we use condoms). But tbh was just going to throw out the condoms and see what happens - the low stress approach.
