I stopped taking the pill on October 13th and for a few weeks afterwards DH and I did a fair bit of BDing, however for a variety of reasons we haven't done any for about a fortnight. Because I was excited about TTC and there was no sign of AF (and still isn't)I did quite a few of those cheapie ebay tests and absolutely nothing.

However, was doing some pre-holiday trying on clothes this evening and was getting paranoid and rather depressed about the fact that I seem to have developed a thicker waist than normal. The diet has gone out of the window just lately but just on the off-chance and more in hope than with expectation I did yet another cheapie ebay test and immediately two very dark lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely some mistake, could I be??? I cannot believe I am after at least half a dozen bfns! Could this be real?? Unfortunately DH is abroad with work so could really do with someone to sanity check for me. Should I wait and do another one in the morning b4 getting excited??

Be patient, if its possible to be patient in your position! Wait until the morning! It could well be real. Good luck.

If you get a bfn then its not the end of the world.

Ellbell · 24/11/2007 21:17

Not an expert, but I have heard that false-negatives are very common, but false-positives are not. Fingers crossed for you.

Sassylou · 24/11/2007 21:18

Will do another one in the morning, but seriously freaked, was not expecting a BFP??? Does this sometime happen with these cheap tests?

Sassylou · 24/11/2007 21:19

Looks to me like you are pregnant, my experience with ebay cheapies is that they aren't that great at picking up a BFP until after AF is late a few days.

I had a BFN 4 days before AF was due, the day before a very faint line, the day AF was due very faint line but about 5 days later got two very dark lines

I would say congratulations are in order join the club x

sweetkitty · 24/11/2007 21:20

Oh and forgot to say with DD2 I had 3 negatives with ebay chapies, BFP with a CBD.

Test again in the morning.

Sassylou · 24/11/2007 21:21

Am keeping fingers crossed but just be patient. It's still early days but a positive pregnancy test is good news. Without wishing to be a wet blanket - its still very early on and it can still go either way. Sorry if i'm raining on your parade. Hopefully all will be well and you will be looking at the Mothercare website very soon.

teuch · 25/11/2007 12:08

Good luck Sassylou!

Can I crash??!!

Took last pill around 15th Oct or so, got last period about 20th Oct...nothing since but cheapy ebay tests (latest done on Friday) all BFN.

I wouldn't have though I'd BD'd at right time either as been unwell...prob BD around day 7, failed attempt around day 20 or so (DS woke up sick!) then BD day 27 or so...

I live on an island with no access to more tests, arrggghhh!!

MarvinSuggsAndTheMuppephone · 25/11/2007 12:21

same thing happened to me - loads of bfn's but I somehow knew. Even a blood test at the doc's was -ve. Two weeks later, still no af, still feeling rough, did another test and got an emphatic bfp

It happens quite a lot I think.

Sassylou · 25/11/2007 12:50

Copy of post from TTC thread for those of you hwo helped keep me sane last night and anyone else who is interested;

The man from the Clearblue Digtal test he says............ "PREGNANT"!!!!

Wasn't much of a surprise in the end as had done seven (yes seven) ebay cheapies while I waited for tesco to open! All of which were BFPs

DH in India started crying when I rang him and told him! Bless. Think he is secretly impressed at his own fertility!

Woo hoo - well done you! I found out I was pregnant three days ago (Sainsburys pregnancy test chucked in trolley because fed up of guessing when period would arrive and preg tests are so effective at bringing forth aunty flo!)

I guess you'll be off to the docs tomorrow then!

Sassylou · 25/11/2007 13:56

Well done you too!

Because I hadn't had an AF since stopping pill I have no idea what my due date will be, I have guestimated end of July but would like something a bit more certain!! Off to the docs I go!

Congrats to you....

whomovedmyuterus · 25/11/2007 20:21

Sassy - bear in mind if you are over 12 weeks the u/s isn't terribly accurate apparently.

I'm breastfeeding so I don't know where the blinking flip I am either. But I'm throwing up already so I'm guessing a few weeks.

LOVEMYMUM · 25/11/2007 20:55

That says it all really!

sweetkitty · 25/11/2007 21:43
