Start looking for a job while TTC - is it worth it?

I would like to get your thoughts on my situation.

Long story short, I had a mc at 11wks. Now going through Ureaplasma treatment and also getting rid of polyps in a couple of weeks' time. So looks like on the right track to start TTC again.

I've been at my job for 3yrs now. If I wasn't TTC I would be looking for a new job now. However, my current e'er offers great maternity benefits, private healthcare. The job itself at the moment is not stressful, normal workings hours. Almost ideal circumstances for conception! It is just really dull. There is an unlikely chance they might have to let me go due to re-organisation but that's very unlikely at least for the next 6months.

On one hand I think it makes sense for me to stay and give at least few months after polyp removal to see what happens. But on another hand I don't want to lose an opportunity and have a better career.

I'm the main bread winner at the moment but it wouldn't be the end of the world if didn't have full maternity pay. However, I would go back to work as soon as possible. Delaying TTC is not an option due to age.

What are your thoughts and what did you do in the similar situation?

Go for it, especially if you don't mind losing the maternity/health care benefits. Might take longer than expected.
I've been TTC since December and started a new job in May. Still not pregnant but glad I started the job.

My advice would always be to avoid planning your life around ttc, as previous poster said as long as you don’t mind potentially missing out mat pay and benefits it really doesn’t matter!

We’d been TTC following a miscarriage in January, I got headhunted for a great job in March, working for a company I’d had my eye on for a while. I’d been with my previous employer 18 months at that point. They offered a lot more money, more opportunity for progression and bonus every 6 months.

After a lot of thinking I went for it and started early May… found out I was pregnant on the 21st May 😂 I told my boss when I was around 8 weeks because my sickness was so severe that even though I was WFH I felt it was affecting performance. They’ve been absolutely brilliant with me.

Currently 9w5d and I’ve not even mentioned mat pay yet but the better money and being able to save now means I’m better off than if I’d have stayed with my previous employer and qualified for SMP! X

thank you @thebattleofschrutefarms for sharing your experience. indeed TTC process might take much longer than I would like to so staying at the job just because of TTC would just increase my frustration.

@danielleb97 I bet that was bit of a shock! wonderful news so congrats. hopefully pregnancy will go well. I don't want to be doing active job search as simply want to enjoy the summer and down time at my current job but I if the right roles come up I'll just go for it and see what happens.
