No EWCM - is this a problem?

I'm on month 5 TTC and just wanted to ask a question about EWCM.

I never seem to get EWCM and now I'm 5 months into TTC I'm wondering if that's a problem?

I do notice some changes with CM, mainly just a bit more moisture but I don't think I've had EWCM since I was in my teens.

I used OPKs once and all I got was flashing smileys, never a solid smiley. I don't temp or anything.

It's easy to start worrying when you're approaching the six month mark - it feels like a lifetime! Especially as I have to wait another 6 months before I can go to the GP 😬

I'd suggest you temp so you figure out what's going on. That way you'll see if you've just been missing your peak or if you're perhaps just not ovulating.

Flashing smiley means you get an oestrogen rise at least - but funnily enough it's what should be giving you EWCM. If you don't have any then do take evening primrose oil 1000-2000mg per day until ovulation.

@BritInNZ the problem with no EWCM doesn't mean you aren't ovulating but this is what helps the sperm travel to meet the egg so could be a reason why it hasn't happened yet? But there are alternatives you can look into like Primrose oil and Pre-seed to help

Hi! I know it's an old thread but wanted to check and see if using pre-seed has helped? Im ttc cycle 4 and been tracking my cycle with clearblue fertility monitor. I get peaks but it never aligns with having ewcm (nor tbh have I been noticing it at all...)

@lili2308 I didn't end up conceiving completely naturally, no. I tried pre-seed and nothing happened, and ended up diagnosed with unexplained infertility. As a last resort before IVF I was put on letrozole and alongside pre-seed, fell pregnant my first cycle 😊
