TTC: What is happening?

Hubby and I have been ttc since February (I had a miscarriage and D&C in January). We decided that if we weren’t successful this month, we’re going to take a break. So about two weeks after my last period (May 20), I starting taking ovulation tests. And they were all negative. I tested for a week and finally accepted that I just wasn’t gonna ovulate this month. But then I thought to myself, what if I ovulated early? So I bought and took a first response early result pregnancy test and to my joy it was very clearly positive! This was June 14th. I got an even darker positive the next day, the 15th. I made an appointment with the health department for a few days later and they did a urine test. And the nurse told me it was negative. I was crushed and confused. I left and bought another first response and took it and it was only faintly positive. I took another one the next day and it was negative and every test I’ve taken since has been negative. So I accepted that those first two tests were flukes and prepared for my period. Except my period is now 9 days late but I’m still getting negatives. Can anyone help? What’s going on?
