Anyone's cycle strange after having a coil removed?

I had my coil removed at the end of October. It is now 31 days since my last period. I don't feel pregnant but have done two tests, both negative but still no bleeding. I don't understand it. I have never had a cycle this long. Anyone have any advice?

was your coil a marina one?? if so dont they have artificial hormones in them? they take a cycle or two to get your periods back to what was normal for you before you had it fitted. i had my coil removed jus over 2 weeks ago but it was the ordinary non hormone treated one so my periods should stay as normal as before according to the doctor who removed it! she asked me what coil was fitted as i told her me and DH wanted to TTC so it must be an important feature of them iyswim!!
HTH xx ei xx

Nope it was an ordinary copper coil. I chose it specifically because I wanted non hormonal contraception. Maybe it is just because I am 35...

Hi just thought i'd say that i had my copper coil removed on the 5th nov and my af has not came on yet either, i was reading a site where a lot of women have experienced this i will look for it again and post the link for you. Seems like ttc is not as easy after copper coil as the dr's lead me to believe.!!

Holly Thanks. I finally got my period yesterday so at least I know where I am now. I have been so stressed over the last month that I think it may have been an annovulatory cycle. At least I am bleeding less than with the coil - I never want one of those again. Dh is being told to have the snip once we're done....

Hi petitfilou, i got my af on sat and very light think its gone now already! i will never get a coil again either. Just praying that everything is ok down below and we will be able to concieve ok...

McDreamy · 26/11/2007 10:44

My cycle has become longer since my coil was removed too! I went from a very regular 29 days to anything from 27 - 35 days! Real pain as I get my hopes up every month only to so far have them dashed

McDreamy · 26/11/2007 10:45

but I will def have another one (mirena) fitted after next baby (if i conceive!)

PetitFilou1 · 26/11/2007 13:12

McDreamy I think it is our age sadly (just looked on your profile) I'm 35... Our dcs are similar ages too. Where are you in Cyprus? My dh is an RAF Dr and has lived out there in the past.

PetitFilou1 · 26/11/2007 15:52

Oooh, this is helpful as I am having mine removed on Weds (not going to be TTC though).

Holly78 · 26/11/2007 19:43

Thanks petitfilou, heres hoping .

McDreamy · 27/11/2007 09:32

So you weren't out here with him then Petitfilou. We might not know each other but we are bound to know the same people. The military medical world is a very small one

Is this you trying for number 3 too? Are we completely mad?

PetitFilou1 · 03/12/2007 12:42

Yep, it is definitely a small world. One that I hope dh will leave when he is 41 (only about 6 years to go - ho hum!)

Yes I am trying for no 3 too and yes I am mad - just when it was getting easier.......

is this weird or normal please? I had a merena removed 10th October and had what i assume was a period 2 days later which lasted 3 days but now 54 days later no period since...its driving me nuts as I'm waiting patiently to take my first dose of clomid. Does it normally take a few cycles to get back some regularity after a merena?
