Cycle confusion!

Hi all back in March I had an awful miscarriage which left me hospitalised for a couple of days as I haemorrhaged and came close to cardiac arrest (but that’s another story) the cycle of June has been the first that I’ve had the green light to try again so my af started on the 4th June
On the evening of the 15th I started taking opk and to my amazement it came back as what my app said was peak (super dark.. darker than the control line) I carried on taking two tests a day And had my first set of negatives 2 days later
This meant I ovulated 2 days earlier than expected on CD12 so this altered my cycle length bring at forward by 2 days
Before my Mc I had 28day cycles but when I looked back at last months I only had a 25day cycle and this cycle is predicted to be 24day cycle
But my question to you all is..
When testing is it best to count dpo or days until af due - as I can’t help myself I’m a poas addict! It helps me feel a little in control of my body after what’s happened, giving me an idea of what’s happening inside!
I have taken one test today at 9dpo and its negative (I know this is early but i picked up my previous pregnancy at 9dpo and also my sons around thst day too)
Sorry for babbling just feels good to get it all off my chest and ask for advice 🥰
Thankyou!

It's best to count DPO. I can't stand all these tests telling you you can test up to 6 days before AF as that is entirely dependent on how long your LP is. Eg mine is only 12 days so per that I could be testing as early as 6DPO? Makes no sense.

My two cents anyway!
