Hi just wondering if m/c is common after first coming off the pill? I hear that they are. I came off them last year, got pg right away had a mc, went back on them for a year, came off them in June and had another mc in August, this year. Now my period is all over the place, only had one normal one since. I am scared to ttc because I don't want to have another mc, but I want to start ttc soon. Has anyone else been through this???

I cam off the pill a couple of years ago to have ds - I had 2 early miscarriages and fell pg for the 3rd time with ds 12mths later. He is now 21mths and I have been off the pill for 5mths. This time my periods have been all over the place!! I have read that it can take at least 6mths for your body to adapt so I guess it is quite likely that you might experience miscarriages until your body is strong enough to carry a baby. Good luck and fingers crossed for us both.

I want to have a baby so badly, I just don't want to go through another mc, I think I will just try and relax and see if it happens. Eveyone around me is getting pregnant and it makes me worried that I might be one of those women who can't concieve or hold onto a baby till full term. With the irregular periods and 2 miscarriages and all.I feel like every time someone else announces that they are preggers ,that it just may never happen for me. We haven't started trying again, but want to soon, I am just scared about another mc. Has anyone else felt like this? How do they diagnose PCOS?

Hi woo12woo, sorry to hear about what you are going through. I came off the pill in May, got pg 2 months later, and had a mmc in August. Since then my cycles have been all irregular, LP was 8 days for a few cycles after mc. And yes, have a gnawing doubt at the back of my mind - this was my 1st pregnancy - what if I can't ever conceive/carry a pg through? what if something is wrong with me? what if I have another mc? I guess there is just nothing you can do about it. Have been doing both acupuncture and reflexology since the mc, which I find really helpful. It's very relaxing and for the first time (I started 4 weeks ago) I stopped having this awful anxiety about the whole ttc/mc thing. Also, have just been reading a lot of books about ttc and mc to just understand what is happening with my body. HTH.

This happened to me too.

I got pregnant 4 months after coming off the combined pill and had a mc very early. I understand how heartbreaking it can be and how scary it is to start trying again.

I waited a further 4 months, and stayed away from the pill. When I got pregnant again the pregnancy support unit at my local hospital was amazing.

This also happened to a friend of mine 3 times, before they found she had a blood disorder which was easily treated. She now has a beautiful 3 week old baby boy.

Please try to stay positive, why not try 6 months free from the pill and try again?

Good Luck

MC is just common full stop - as many as 1 in 3 pregnancies unfortunately are not meant to be.

I had mmc at 12 weeks back in feb 05 and had DS ni Jan 06. I had been off the pill for 8 mths.

It s normal to look for reasons as to why mc occurs but it is important to recognise that in the vast majority of cases there is absolutely nothing you could have done differently. It is not your fault, directly or indirectly!!

Good luck to everyone TTCing

I'm sorry you've gone through this but I wanted to give a positive story. With ds1 and ds2 I fell pregnant 2nd month after coming off pill and carried them to birth with no problems. This time round I fell pregnant straight after coming off pill and am now 29 weeks.

I've never heard of a correlation between coming off the pill and mc before. I know this will have happened to a lot of people but equally I'm sure will be people who haven't been on the pill but have mc or people who have been on pill but not mc.

Good luckxx
