Ubiquinol and no ovulation

Hello! I just wondered has anyone had any experience of ubiquinol affecting their ovulation?

I started taking 200mg a day from the start of my period this cycle as I read it is good for improving the quality of eggs as you age (I’m 36 now and been trying for 6 months and had 2 chemical pregnancies).

However since I started tracking my cycles 6 months ago (using ovulation sticks and bbt) I have always ovulated on day 18 of my cycle. Today it is day 19 and I am still getting just a flashing smiley on my clearblue digital opk. The line is also super faint on opks, my temperature is still low, and I have no cm at all.

The only thing I’ve done differently this cycle other than the ubiquinol is to start drinking grapefruit juice as I heard this is good for fertility, but I thought this was less likely to affect ovulation?

Has anyone had a similar experience at all, or is it likely to just be a coincidence about the ubiquinol? I can’t decide whether to stop taking it as am reluctant to if it could improve my egg quality and if this is likely to be a one off, but if not it’s pointless to have good quality eggs if I’m not ovulating! Feel like I haven’t got time to experiment either given my age 🙈

Hi OP I've seen on other posts that people have found it has delayed their ovulation by a few days. I've just started taking it this month in the hope I ovulate a little later (I usually ovulate day 11/12) and so far I'm on CD 12 and no ovulation!
I can understand it's probably quite frustrating if you're not trying to ovulate later in your cycle

Mrsspoon3 · 20/06/2021 20:18

Thanks for your reply! Smile
That’s interesting to know it has delayed ovulation for others! That’s reassuring if it’s just delayed, as hopefully it means I will ovulate in a couple of days rather than not at all this cycle, which is what I was worried about. I ovulate quite late anyway so would prefer it not to be delayed, but better late than never haha, so hopefully will happen soon!!
That’s good it’s worked well for you with delaying your ovulation! Smile

Hi OP. I started taking ubiquinol this cycle (100mg). My cycles are all bit all over the place, but last 2 cycles I ovulated on CD17 and CD20. This cycle I ovulated CD24 and I'm currently 2DPO. I wasn't sure if it was the vitamins, my covid jab or just one of those things, but some research tells me it has happened to others when they first started taking it. Will be interested to see what happens next cycle...

Mrsspoon3 · 20/06/2021 20:55

Hey, thanks for your message! Smile That’s mad that it seems to be a common thing then for it to cause delayed ovulation. I wonder why that is?! I really hope it’s just a short term thing and they go back to normal next month, and that your cycle settles down also.
Did you start taking other vitamins or just ubiquinol?

Hey I just wanted to update!... CD15 and still no ovulation yet so I'm definitely thinking the COQ10 causes it to be delayed

Mrsspoon3 · 23/06/2021 09:21

@kittylau44 Thanks for the update! Are you showing any signs of ovulation yet? I’m showing none at all and I’m now on CD22 😭 I don’t know what to do! I want to continue with Ubiquinol as have read some really great things about it, and given my age, but I’m beginning to think I’m not going to ovulate this cycle at all!! I’m getting really anxious and down about it. Think I might have to stop taking them, but really didn’t want to. No idea if/when my cycles will get back to normal either if I stop!

I'm sorry to hear it's causing you stress, I was thinking next cycle I might try and take it for 5 days only.
Ive had some signs of ovulation such as EWCM, be interesting to see when it does happen!

Mrsspoon3 · 27/06/2021 09:34

Just an update in case this is of any help for anyone looking into this in future, the ubiquinol (presumably) stopped me from ovulating at all this cycle 😢 I got to day 23 and finally had a peak/static smiley on the clearblue ovulation test so was absolutely over the moon, and I got some EWCM too. However I’m on day 26 now and while opks have gone negative again and EWCM has gone, my bbt has not risen at all and stayed really low, showing I clearly didn’t ovulate.
Feel really upset as I can’t really afford to miss a cycle, and also it was really difficult ttc this cycle as my husband recently had hip surgery and was in loads of pain so was quite a stressful experience (sorry if tmi) and ended up being for no reason at all!
Also really anxious I may not ovulate again now as I have a history of weird periods (I didn’t have one at all for 2 entire years after coming off the pill and then would get one only every 3/6 months) and they only became regular 2 years ago and now I’ve messed that up!!
How are you getting on @kittylau44? Hope it’s going better for you! 🙂

I just wanted to post another update in case anyone reads this in the future (which I’m sure they won’t, but I found it frustrating when I was trying to get info on this and couldn’t see what happened next with people’s experiences), I did actually ovulate this cycle as I got pregnant and am now 15 weeks! 😊 I’ve no idea why my temperature didn’t rise for ages after or what was going on with the ovulation sticks, but ubiquinol definitely didnt stop me from ovulating! I also wondered if it may have helped, but know I probably didn’t take it for long enough haha. Anyway, just thought I would update in case of any interest to anyone else who’s taking it!

Thank you @Mrsspoon3 for updates! I’m reading ! ☺️I was contemplating until now to try Ubiquinol or not and can’t decide. Very tempting as I also have read good things about it. Congratulations on your pregnancy !

Mrsspoon3 · 08/10/2021 12:02

Thank you @GingerFox2021! 😊 I don’t know if Ubiquinol helped me or not as I only took for a few weeks … I guess most would say not, but it definitely must have been a better quality egg as I’d had 2 chemical pregnancies before this one which is normally due to chromosome problems. So I don’t know, I kind of secretly think it helped haha. I’ve read really good things from other people though too, so might be worth trying! Hope you get your BFP soon!!

I just started UPPing my ubiquinol ftom200 mg to 600mg ( standard dosage from fertility clinics) and also have had delay but I see it as a good thing! @Mrsspoon3 congrats!!

newtolineofduty · 08/10/2021 19:39

Congratulations OP! I've been taking ubiquinol for a couple of months and since then my ovulation is two days earlier than usual!!!! Was the month you got pregnant the first month you'd been on it for 90 days? Xxx

Peggytheredhen · 08/10/2021 19:44

Congrats OP!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 08/10/2021 20:47

@Mrsspoon3 so pleased you posted updates because I clicked on the thread and had a minor panic before I read that you were actually pregnant. That must have been so wonderful to find out. Congratulations!

newtolineofduty · 09/10/2021 07:33

@FlyOnTheWall89 I did the same! 😂

Mrsspoon3 · 09/10/2021 18:42

Thank you @samgweis! 😊 Yes maybe the delay is a good thing if it helps with the egg quality! Hope the increased dose helps you!

That’s funny it has made your ovulation @newtolineofduty. Just shows everyone is so different! Yeah the month I got pregnant was the first time I started taking taking it. Thank you! 😊

Ah thank you @Peggytheredhen and @FlyOnTheWall89! 😊 So sorry to make you panic FlyonTheWall and newtolineofduty! Glad I did the update now!! It was so amazing to find out as I had kind of written off that month as thought I hadn’t ovulated, and I was starting to think it was never going to happen, especially given I’d had period problems in the past and with my age, so it was amazing! I still can’t quite believe it!!

Hi @Mrsspoon3 I’ve just done a search for Ubiquinol delaying ovulation as I started it two weeks ago and now my ovulation is AWOL! Amazing update Smile

Mrsspoon3 · 17/02/2022 22:21

Ah thanks @Decaffe! 😊 I hope things get back on track for you with your ovulation, and hope the ubiquinol helps you! Good luck! 😊
