Alcohol in tww

First month of ttc no. 2 and I am already getting very obsessed. 1dpo and thinking about my tww. I do like to have a few drinks on the weekend and I'm not sure whether to cut alcohol out completely or just to moderate my intake. I'd be interested in other peoples thoughts - especially those who do routinely have weekend drinks. Just seems ttc takes over enough of our lives already!!

I personally have a drink probably every weekend. I had a couple of drinks at 3dpo this cycle as, like you, didn’t want to not enjoy myself when I could be waiting months to fall! But I ended up getting my bfp at 9dpo so it didn’t affect anything for me 🥰 I definitely say to drink (moderately) until it’s pink! X

Congratulations on your bfp!! Yes, I think I agree with you. Having a drink (in moderation) will certainly make things feel much more normal and therefore make me obsess and stress less. I'm 35 so expecting to have to go through a fair few cycles before a bfp!

One or two drinks is unlikely to cause trouble, just don’t go mad. While the foetal cells live off the corpus luteum for the first few weeks and won’t get directly exposed to the alcohol, the liver will prioritise clearing the alcohol over all the other jobs it has to do to keep you healthy enough to carry the kiddo, and for life in general. So don’t give it too much extra hard work to do. A glass or two of wine or a cocktail at the weekend, maybe once during the week is probably not the end of the world as long as you stop when you have the bfp.

Also everything you do now affect the follicle as it develops, and your partners sperm is affected too. Both take 70-100 days to develop, which is why they say take your vitamins and be healthy for 3 months before you want to conceive for the best chances. Don’t make your body work too hard or have to deal with too much stress or it won’t have the energy left for fertility. Do some research on vitamins, protein, choline, omega 3 etc see what you need. Get more sleep.

I actually realised I was pregnant because the usually-delicious small glass of wine I had with Easter lunch tasted disgusting to me and I was woozy after half a glass! Morning sickness hit like a tonne of bricks about a week later!

Good luck!

Thank you lovely, definitely enjoy yourself until it comes otherwise can become quite stressful! Hope you get your bfp very soon 💗

I can so relate with getting ‘obsessed’ early on! Feel free to message me whenever you feel like having a chat.
I got pregnant on my first cycle TTC but lost it very early. I tried to be incredibly healthy and did not drink in my TWW that month (or actually, I might’ve not drank that whole month because I was excited about trying).
Afterwards I drank whenever I wanted and I haven’t gotten pregnant. Now I just entered my TWW and won’t drink because maybe (quite possibly) that’s what has been affecting my chances!

Good luck to you xx

I don't drink in the TWW. It's only a fortnight.

I had a few big events in my last two week wait and drank at all of them. Got my bfp and now 6.5 weeks. Did the same with my daughter, actually got very drunk the night before my bfp with her and she's perfect and a total brainbox. I'm 37 and conceived second cycle with #1 and third cycle with #2. I personally really don't think it makes much difference, as long as you're not regularly drinking heavily.
